EIO Patisserie [ Pantai Indah Kapuk, Toko Kue ]

Cheese, Chocolate or Neither? All are here!

Looking for anti-mainstream cakes or cookies that you will scarcely find in any other pattiseries? If so, EIO Patisserie is surely the place you might wanna drop by. It serves numerous one-of-a-kind cakes of top-notch quality as well as some commonly well-known choices like cheesecake. Plus, expensive as it might seem, you won't regret what you spend here as it's really about quality over quantity.
I'd point out just some desserts in the photos that I find quite memorable:
    1. Yuzu Crémeux (55k) --> A soft (but not creamy) 'pudding-like' dessert made from Yuzu orange topped with fresh sunkist and sprinkled with almonds below.

    2. Cheese Fruit Tart (150k)  -->  Raspberries stacked over compact cheese layers on a graham cracker--worldly heaven for cheese lovers. No wonder this becomes one of EIO best-selling cakes.
    3. Valrhona Chocolate Mousse (55k)

Not really into cheese? Touché, that's where you may want to try its chocolate mousse. There is this bitter sweet sensation of the choco, making you want for more.
    4. Chocolate Avocado Mousse

Avocado+Chocolate Ice Cream--I am drooling remembering its perfect melange.
    5. Frozen Smores (50k)

I missed this one, but with all other great cakes, this one is without doubt as great as the others.
There are also other honorable mentions including EIO signature cake, the almond cookies (much better than SBY-style ones), Rose cookies (Made from real rose petals, it's so fragrant you may think, "Does someone actually spray some perfume on it?"), and selections of cheesecake (i.e. light or strong--you decide).
Elaborate as it is, you really still have to come by and taste them yourself. No regrets guaranteed!
n.b. Many of the cakes here are not overwhelmingly sweet, but trust me, that's what makes them special

Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000

Waytuki [ Pasar Baru, Vegetarian ]

    Mission Accomplished!

Another review of Indian delicacy, guys! I do have a mission to spread my gusto for Indian cuisine to all my friends, and this time, I invited them to eat in Waytuki, an Indian vegetarian restaurant--located in Jalan Pintu Air Raya, an avenue right in front of Juanda Bus Station. And I can say, my mission is once again successfully accomplished.
Though it says vegetarian, you don't have to harbor any doubt about its taste. It's not like that plain vegetable dishes mundanely sauteed or steamed. It's Indian, so you can expect much spice used. And believe me, they are great.
We ordered biryani rice, aloo gobi (potato cubes served in Indian curry), mutton dry masala and garlic naan. Gotta say that all of them, despite its lower prices than many other Indian bistros, are just as great as them. Mutton Dry Masala was especially a recommended one--bear in mind it's not 'real' meat and yet you will feel like eating meat.
I do love the service and also the ambience with some fragrance diffusing around the room. For sure, another Indian 'jewel' to add to my list, 😆

Ganesha Ek Sanskriti [ Sudirman, India ]

A totally memorable Indian culinary adventure!

Ganesha Ek Sanskriti indeed deserves rounds of applause for its luscious food, excellent service, and not to mention its competitive price for such a great fine-dining experience.
Coming here early at around 11.30, we found the restaurant still empty with waiters still busy preparing the buffet. The Indian ambience was strong with a kind of altar at the entrance, even stronger with fragrance of incense throughout the room.
We took seats overlooking Jakarta's skyscrapers and placed our orders immediately: Butter Chicken (5/5), Mattar Paneer (4.5/5), Tandoori Chicken (4/5) and Bread Basket. Butter Chicken and Mattar Paneer are just almost flawless with strong but not overwhelming spices. Tandoori Chicken (half) was served with quite a decently big portion, a nice accompaniment to your curry. And for sure, breads would perfectly complement your lunch. We spent 420k and the food totally paid it off.
All in all, Ganesha Ek Sanskriti can serve you the finest Indian food. And the awards exhibited on the entrance wall were not just for mere display, you'd agree.

Menu yang dipesan: Tandoori Murgh, Murgh Makhni, Mattar Paneer, Bread Baskets

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

Sapori Deli - Fairmont Jakarta [ Senayan, Kafe ]

    Try its Tagilolini!

Together with fellow foodies from Pergikuliner & Gagaldiett, we made a unanimous decision to have our lunch in this exclusive Italian restaurant inside Fairmont Hotel, Senayan: Sapori Deli. Fancy, lavish and expensive---these three words summed our first impression upon entering this restaurant. And after pampering ourselves with a complete meal of three pastas, two pizzas and some desserts, we simply had no regrets for having spent our time here. Still, with some notes though.

To begin with, you can order its appetizer such as Calamari Fritto (4.5/5), which we ordered, to share for 3-4 or Tomato Mozzarella which the waiter said was the recommended one. Crunchy bread is also provided as complimentary items before moving on to the main courses. Moving on to the main courses, one of our favorites is Tagliolini (5/5), a bakmi-like pasta with creamy sauce. Its texture is quite thin and quite sticky unlike most spaghetti, the sauce is undeniably the creme de la creme of this dish. Its price is lower than the signature pasta Spaghetti Nero (3.5/5)--squid ink black pasta, yet one would agree that the latter is no better than the former. But, it is still one decent dish, I can say.

As for the pizzas, we ordered Naughty Boy (4/5) & Hawaii Five-Oh (4/5). The pizza served here is not of thin pizza (yet not too think as well) and its pizza crust is rather crunchy. The taste? Naughty boy was just like typical pizza served in many restaurant, while Hawaii Five-Oh had its special Parma Ham which for some can be quite, if not too much, savory. 8 nice slices of pizza to accompany your pasta.

Last but not least, the desserts are not to skip whenever you pay a visit here. We tried its Cherry Semi Freddo with Pistachio (4/5) & Panna Cotta (4/5). Both were refreshing, perfect to end your meal here.

Service was generally fine with waitresses having good knowledge of the menu items in case guests are not sure what to order. They were also well-trained in their attitude towards customers, be it locals or foreigner. Food needs some time to be served, but the cozy ambience would compensate for your waiting time.

In brief, Sapori Deli totally deserves a place in the five-star Fairmont considering the quality it has shown to its guests.

Excellent panini and pasta, yet ...

Finally got the chance to eat out after quite a hiatus during the pandemic, and I decided to visit Babochkaa at Tribeca Central Park, thanks to PergiKuliner Vouchers,

As it's Buy 2 Get 1 Free, we opted for three menus, and yes, while we felt quite sated with the panini and pasta, the seabass fell rather under our expectation.

The panini was served in two large bites with nicely minced chicken/beef inside, and the taste was delicately savory and sweet. Pretty decent dish, I'd say.

If you're looking for pasta, Babochkaa's pasta won't disappoint you as well. The penne was perfectly cooked with its yummy creamy carbonara sauce. Comparable to other "more popular" Italian bistros.

However, what we were not really happy with was the seabass. The lemon sauce was odd, the fish was rather dry, the salad was also too sour. Edible it is, but I am not gonna order it again. Looks are not always everything, are they?

Overall, Babochkaa can be an escapade if you're bored with all the indoor restaurants at CP.

Menu yang dipesan: Lemon Butter Seabass, Panini Babochkaa, Penne Carbonara

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

Phoenix Coconut Chicken Shabu - Shabu [ Hayam Wuruk, China ]

    Unique Sapo Tahu!

Whenever you invite your friends to Chinese restaurants, their responses might probably be "Boring!" or "C'mon, we are not having a family dinner right now!". This is so common that Chinese food is no longer considered a special type of cuisine by some. However, they might change their mind if they visit this particularly new restaurant at HXC, Harmoni.

As its name suggests, Phoenix has Shabu-shabu as its flagship menu, but I am not that into shabu-shabu, so I order its other menus. And gosh, I can say that the food is much better than expected.

One surprisingly tasty menu is its Sapo Tahu. Wait, you might come up with that typical round Japanese tofu, but here, they use the extra firm block tofu, which is a bit crumbly in texture, added by a variety of mushrooms and vegetables. And this texture is what makes the Sapo Tahu quite different yet still delicious.

If you need something crunchy, I'd recommend the salted-egg fried lotus. The combination of the mushy salted egg and crunch of the lotus is just on point.

We also ordered its Tom Yum soup, which is not a Chinese dish, but it is served hot and fresh to accompany your meal.

Service is likewise excellent, but how unfortunate it is to see the chairs so empty the two times I was here. Again, it's been a long time I haven't been impressed by Chinese delicacy, and Phoenix didn't fail to impress me.

Menu yang dipesan: Sapo Tahu, Salted-egg Fried Lotus, Tom Yum Soup

Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000

Nasi Campur ALU [ Mangga Besar, China ]

Food that even vegan can't resist!

Eyeing for food around Mangga Besar, one definitely shouldn't miss out on one of the best nasi campur eateries in town: Nasi Campur Alu. The place is small yet very clean and the owner is no doubt very friendly. But above all is its main dish: Pontianak nasi campur which is absolutely impeccable, thus making you want for more.
Rice topped with abundant fixings such as Pork Char Siu, chicken, egg and vegetables and immersed in special thick gravy will be a perfect company for your big lunch. The melange of sweet and savory taste is really something food lovers can't dream of. Portion is decent, priced at Rp40.000 for one plate of nasi campur.
So, if you haven't come here, you surely can't claim yourselves as a nasi campur lover. A must-go for anyone in love with nasi campur!

    Popolamama [ Thamrin, Italia ]

Superb lunch in Popolamama, Grand Indonesia!

Only ordering two dishes for myself, I was simply elated with how delicious and generous the food was. And added to its perfection was the cordial service.
I ordered Seafood Pescatore (4/5) along with Mini Smoked Chicken Genovese Pizza (5/5).
Seafood Pescatore --- Pasta with some squid and big prawns in tomato gravy. The amount of sauce was just right and it was a decent portion for one person. Recommended.
Smoked Chicken Genovese was a real heaven for pizza lovers. On top of its nicely thin pizza and yummy chicken slices is the genovese sauce, which is the prime feature. Genovese per se is an onion-based sauce, similar to Pesto.
All in all, try dropping by here should you crave for some pasta or pizza in Grand Indonesia.

Miyagi [ Karet Kuningan, Jepang ]

    It's Sushi Time!

Many thanks to my friends for their post-defense treat, here we are in Miyagi---already craving for its Sushi Frenzy. What comes up in many people's mind about Miyagi is that it does provide sushi at lower prices, but no, no, no. Its food quality can keep abreast with more popular Jap-food chains (e.g. Sushi T**).
Some sushis we ordered here included Miyagi Maki (Omellete Sushi with Thousand Island), Salmon Cheese Aburi Maki and Ebi Tempura Maki. Bearing the bistro's name, Miyagi Maki---I personally think---is absolutely the crème de la crème (Really delicious especially when you add some Shoyu: it becomes perfect). The second is decent with the salmon really well-cooked and the cheese nicely melted. The last one is just fine for me.
Adding even more to the list, we ordered Tori Karaage Salad & Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. I am not a fan of salad but yes the vegetables are really fresh with nice dressing. The curry rice is also in fact satisfying (recommended for sharing). Plus, the specialty drinks  may deserce your attention: Himawari Tea is more to the sour-sweet one; Haruki Tea is a bit gingerish with a tad sweetness (All are great!).
Ambience is quite cozy to stay rather longer and service is indeed commendable--quick and smooth.
Overall, I can say price may just sometimes lie and Miyagi is one existent proof.

Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000

Nasi Kari Akiat [ Jembatan Lima, China ]

Heavenly bliss for every curry lover!

As the one and only eatery that sells Pontianak curry in Krendang area, Nasi Kari Akiat has shown its profound expertise in serving one of the best curry rice in town.
With just Rp34.000, you can already stuff your belly with one big plate of curry rice served with at least three kinds of meat, one whole egg, potato and several vegetable fixings--as you can see in the picture attached. They surely know we just can't get enough with just one type of meat. And yes, don't be shocked with the portion and you'd better share one for two if you are not actually starving. What a price for such scrumptious dish!
As to its location, it is difficult to reach this restaurant by car for sure: limited parking space. The place itself is just like most restaurants in the vicinity: home-like resto. But forget about it! Its Nasi Kari Akiat is totally a hidden diamon that could've been more popular than it is now.

    Menu yang dipesan: Nasi Kari
