3.2Warkop Cumlaude [ Beji, Kafe ]
Work work work
For UI students that reside in Kutek (Kukusan Teknik) area, you must be quite familiar with this place. Looks like a very large hut from the outside, this place can occupy dozens.
Food and beverages: 2.5/5
The menu ranges from instant food to "sushi", "ramen", and toast. They also offer a variety of coffee but I was never tempted to try. The last time I came here I had my usual Indomie Kuah Susu (instant noodle with milk soup) with additional topping of chilli, cheese, egg, and corned beef; Butter Rice with Corned Beef, Iced Milo, and Iced Cappuccino. Indomie Kuah Susu tasted great for a rainy day. It might look yucky but for me it was savory and better than regular Indomie. The milk soup was a little too watery, hence the flavor dissipates a bit. Butter rice was basically white nasi goreng, rice fried with butter and mixed with corned beef and egg. It was so-so but quite fulfilling. Both milo and iced cappuccino still had too much ice although I asked for less ice. I never tried the rest of the menu since they weren't promising.
Pricing: 5/5
Very cheap! Appropriate for student's pocket. Indomie Kuah Susu with chilli, cheese, egg, and corned beef costs IDR 18k, Butter Rice with Corned Beef IDR 14k, Iced Milo IDR 6.5k, and Iced Cappuccino IDR 5k. Since the taste is not that good, the pricing was reasonable. One thing that amazes me: they accept debit cards!
Ambience: 3/5
Large space with high ceiling and hut-themed with wooden-mat walls and wooden tools and tables, this place ain't the cosiest place you'll encounter. But there's WiFi with relatively strong connection and opens til late, suitable for students to do their work while having a discussion. There are large tables, small tables, and floor-sitting option. There is no air con, but there are fans all around. Almost every table is provided with power sockets. The lighting is quite dim though, makes your eyes hurt a little. They play music here but the volume isn't bothersome. This place is indeed intended for students. Crowded at night both weekdays and weekends.
Service: 3/5
Waiters and waitresses were new and not that skilful. Here, you pick up the menu from cashier, order and pay right away. Then you pick up a number and they will bring your orders to you.

2.8McDonald's [ Cinere ]
Panas Special
Went here to accompany my boyfriend with his final year project since this place opens 24h. Expected to have their apple pie and try their matcha top but let down miserably since they were out of stock and would only be available at 11 am the next day.
Food and beverages: 3/5
I initially wanted their apple pie (I've tried one before in Malaysia and it was delicious, crispy on the outside and ooey gooey warm goodness inside) but sadly like I said, there was none left. I wanted to try the matcha top and it was gone too. I couldn't hide my disappointment as I settled with large French Fries, Cone Ice Cream, Oreo McFlurry, Spicy Chicken Balls and Paket Panas Spesial substituting iced lemon tea with milo (my go-to). Fortunately the fries were still warm when I received them or else I would've went home. I like to mix fries with the ice cream, you should try it! Weirdly good. There wasn't much oreo in the McFlurry although they did stir it up well. Spicy Chicken Balls was so-so. My favorite would be Paket Panas Special. It consisted of rice, one piece of chicken, scrambled eggs, and a drink of your choice (some drink you need to cash up in terms of subtituting from iced lemon tea). I love their scrambled eggs with extra salt.
Price: 4/5
Very affordable. Portion is moderate. Food is parallel with the price. Large French Fries costs about IDR 19k, Cone Ice Cream IDR 6k, Oreo McFlurry IDR 10K, Paket Panas Special IDR 35k, and Spicy Chicken Balls IDR 10K.
Ambience: 3/5
Like any other McD stalls, the outlet is dominated by red, yellow, and white. There is a choice of outdoors (smoking) and indoors (non-smoking) and this McD is relatively large. It could probably fit around 50+ people here. Kid-friendly since they provide a children's playground section. Options of sofa/bar/regular sitting, WiFi, many power sockets are available throughout. The downside is that the floor is always dirty.
Service: 3/5
Their drive-thru is almost always packed, therefore staffs here tend to neglect customers that lined up the regular cashier. I had to wait 20 minutes before it was my turn although there were only 2 people in front of me. Even then when they took my order, they were still occupied by the drive-thru. Needs to hire more staff. There's this one worker, I don't know his name but he deserves a recognition. He dressed in security outfit but initiated and helped clean the table up by himself. He helped me set aside the empty cups and platter without asking.
Highlight: try the french fries with cone ice cream. Thank me later😜Menu yang dipesan: Paket Panas Special, Cone Ice Cream, Oreo mcflurry, Spicy Chicken Balls

4.2Sushi Tei [ Beji, Jepang ]
Famed sushi available in Depok
The famed sushi establishment has finally opened in Depok! You can easily find this restaurant all over Jakarta and now Depok residents can finally get their hands on without having to drive all the way to the capital city. Sushi Tei has always been my go-to if I want sushi. Located in Margo City, 1st Floor, this place is easy to spot, just at the right side of the escalator, replacing a part of Toko Gunung Agung.
Food and Beverages: 4.5/5
For this visit we had Salmon Cha Soba, Crispy Cheese Roll, Baked Salmon Maki, Salmon Temaki, Cold Ocha, and Hot Ocha. My current favorite dish is Salmon Cha Soba. Cold soba (green noodle) was arranged in three swirls topped with half-baked salmon, mayonnaise, and tobikko; complemented with aqueous soy sauce, scallion, and seaweed in one serving. The soba itself is quite plain but combined with everything, it turned into one tastebud-satisfying dish! The salmon was tender and fresh, it was the perfect combination. Crispy cheese roll and baked salmon maki were good, nothing special. Salmon temaki was refreshing. Both ochas were refillable. Everything we ordered were satisfying. Always leave in happy tummy.
Pricing: 4/5
High quality sushi with affordable price! I only spent IDR 170k for two this visit and overall everything is not overpriced. Love!
Ambience: 4/5
I came here late December and by then it was still newly opened. Like all Sushi Tei joints, I was waitlisted but it didn’t take long until I was seated. Decorated with the same template with other japanese outlets, wooden tables and chairs, sofa seatings, and bar stools.
Service: 3/5
The service here was quite bad! I had to push the waiter button several times before one actually tend to my table. Salmon Cha Soba came so late - it came after we finished the rest of the food. I was seated in a small table and when the customer next to me vacated, I wasn’t allowed to move to a bigger table although there weren’t any new customers. It was clear that they were overwhelmed.
Highlight: If you’re feeling out of your comfort zone, try Salmon Cha Soba! Its unique taste will surprise you.🍜Menu yang dipesan: Salmon Cha Soba, Baked Salmon Maki, Crispy Cheese Roll

3.8Flip Burger [ Senopati, Barat ]
Smacker is really flippin' good!
Have been on a hunt for a good burger for quite some time now. Finally on Tuesday night I went to Senopati and decided to give this sought-after burger joint a try.
Food and beverages: 5/5
Holy mother of all things holy! I had their Smacker and to say I was pleased would be an understatement. This burger consisted of the bun, double beef patties, beef bacon, cheese slice, and their original dressing sauce. Since I ordered takeaway, the previously fluffy bun had deflated in a matter of hours. So I suggest you to eat it while it’s fresh and hot. The main star was the beef patty! It was thick and tender. Cooked to a medium well doneness while still maintaining the juiciness, every single bite was a delightful bliss. Cheese slice melted well and compliments the whole thing. Beef bacon was the wow factor that took the burger to another level. The crispiness of the bacon and tenderness of patty was simply astounding. I also ordered Chicken Skin. It was good, but nothing special.
Pricing: 4.5/5
Reasonably priced since the burger was that good. Smacker costs IDR 55k and chicken skin only costs IDR 16k. Debit cards are accepted.
Ambience: 3.5/5
Located in Senopati, near Caribou coffee, this relatively small joint is easy to spot with its bright neon sign. The parking space is small. Dominated with white, red, and yellow, this place lacks decoration but people come here for the food anyway so this doesn’t affect anything. Mostly wooden chairs with a choice of sofa seatings. The walls are eye-catching though with its murals. There’s also two TVs that display advertisement. Has the layout of your typical fast-food joint. Nothing special.
Service: 4/5
When I came here it wasn’t that packed. I only had to wait for one person before it was my turn. It didn’t take long for the food to be done. The pick-up counter is located on the left side of the cashier, next to the refill booth. The staffs were really chirpy although I came there quite late.

4.6Wilshire [ Senopati, Barat ]
Anniversary Dinner
I dined here for my first anniversary with my boyfriend and I must say, I made the right decision. This place emanates a romantic picturesque vibe and endorses an exemplary dinner-date situation. Complimented with the right hue, this spot makes you feel content in place with your significant other.
Food and beverages: 4.5/5
I decided to try out their Pan Fried Duck Confit with Waffles and TWG Tea (Golden Rose) while my boyfriend opted for Burrito Bowl, Korean Wings and Monkey See, Monkey Do mocktail.
- Korean Wings: As an appetizer, ten pieces of chicken, drums and 5 wings, sure was fulfilling. The dressing was stickily sweet and savoury at the same time, luring you to take bite after bite of this hors d'oeuvre. The meat itself was generous and tender. There wasn’t any downside from this dish.
- Pan Fried Duck Confit: Next up, pan fried duck confit was served with two pieces of waffles, a sunny side up, and custard infused maple syrup. At first, I was perplexed by the combination but believe it or not this course was delectably scrumptious! Somehow the warm waffle along with the egg mashed well with the tender, well-seasoned meat of the duck. Duck confit itself was fried to a crispy golden brown, with crispy skin and soft flesh.Custard infused maple syrup tasted similar to the sweetness of soy sauce but it tied the whole dish perfectly.
- Burrito Bowl: This course consisted of cilantro rice, mexican black beans, guacamole, salsa, corn salsa, sour cream, and an option of grilled beef, crispy pork belly, egg or chicken. We opted for grilled beef. I tried all the toppings one by one before deciding to mix the whole thing together; I set aside the sour cream and guacamole since my boyfriend didn’t like those. Grilled beef was seasoned right, cooked well, and moderately sized. Both salsas (tomato and corn) was a bit too sour for my taste, so was the sour cream. Guacamole wasn’t pounded so it was still in the form of avocado. All in all, mixed together it was quite alright. There wasn’t any distinctive factor that makes this course stands out.
- TWG Tea (Golden Rose): This particular tea had become my recent favorite. Its alluring, sweet, and somewhat sensual flavor, contributes to the whole idyllic ambience Wilshire offers.
- Monkey See, Monkey Do: Had a texture and taste of banana milkshake blended with peanuts. Very sweet and dessert-like. Adorned with three small pieces of banana with peanut sprinkles.
Pricing: 4/5
Wilshire can be classified as fancy, therefore it is pretty costly to eat here. We spent IDR 470k (tax included) altogether. Korean Wings costs IDR 65k, Pan Fried Duck Confit w/ Waffles costs IDR 139k, Burrito Bowl IDR 89k, TWG Tea IDR 48k, Monkey See, Monkey Do IDR 48k. Tax is 20% (both service 10% and property tax 10%).
Ambience: 5/5
I really love their picturesque setting. With paintings of roses on some sides of the wall, stacked chandeliers, gold-listed clear panoramic mirror providing view of the road below, fuschia flowers all around, vintage ornaments, marble tables, leather sofa, and polished floor, this place is suitable for an upscale romantic dinner. There’s something about the place that makes you want to linger around for quite a long moment. Wilshire is as good as it looks in the picture, truly photogenic.\
Service: 5/5
Waiters were so attentive, skilled, and friendly. They waited patiently and always with a smile. They didn’t hesitate when I asked them to take pictures repeatedly and when I left my specs, they returned it to me even after I had left the building.
Highlight: The romantic and classy vibe Wilshire offers is perfect for a dinner date. The lighting is complimentary and the place is photogenic. As for the food, try the Duck Confit with Golden Rose Tea! ❤️Menu yang dipesan: Pan Fried Duck Confit w/ Waffle, Burrito Bowl, Korean Wings, Monkey See Monkey Do, Twg tea

3.0H.E.M.A. Resto [ Tebet, Barat,Indonesia,Belanda ]
Ik heb honger
This holland-inspired restaurant, H.E.M.A, is an abbreviation for Halal. Enak. Murah. Artistik which translates to halal, tasty, cheap, artistic. Partly true, the menu they offer is relatively low-budget but for the taste and its artistic qualities? Questionable.
Food and beverages: 3/5
I ordered Hutspot Met Klapstuk, Nasi Goreng ala HEMA, HEMApuccino (Hot), and Frozen Diet Cappuccino. Hutspot Met Klapstuk was basically mashed potato covered with cream served with beef strips. Mashed potato itself tasted horrible and the texture wasn't smooth enough. The cream was bland. The only decent thing was the beef strip itself and even that wasn't that good. I don't think this menu should make their favorite list. Nasi Goreng ala HEMA was served Pattaya-style (covered with omelette), was a little bit spicy but overall it's pretty good. It wasn't oily and seasoned right. HEMApuccino's presentation was so standard, but okay considering HEMA is not a coffee shop. The coffee itself left an unsettling sour taste that I dislike. Even diet (less sugar), Frozen Diet Cappuccino was too sweet and too thick to the point it was almost undrinkable. It tasted like blended dessert. I don't know if the dishes are really low quality here or I just ordered the wrong menu.
Pricing: 4/5
Price is arguably low but because the food isn't great, it feels like I was paying more than their worth. Hutspot Met Klapstuk costs IDR 53K, Nasi Goreng ala HEMA IDR 41K, HEMApuccino IDR 27K, and Frozen Diet Cappuccino IDR 27K.
Ambience: 3.5/5
You can really feel the holland vibe here. Mostly wooden chairs and tables with only one sofa seating, this place lacks decoration. They play dutch music though, so I guess that's a plus. They should really add more knickknacks to attract more customers and alleviate the "holland" theme they bring.
Service: 3/5
Waiters weren't that attentive and took quite a while until the meal was served to us.
Highlight: Although I didn't try one, stick to the dutch food such as the poffertjes. I heard they're really good.Menu yang dipesan: Hutspot Met Klapstuk, Nasi goreng ala hema, Frozen Diet Cappuccino, HEMAPuccino

3.6Nasi Goreng Kambing Kebon Sirih Sejak 1958 [ Menteng, Indonesia ]
The best nasi goreng kambing in town
Simply the best nasi goreng kambing in town. If you love goat meat, this dish will satisfy your senses no less!
Food and beverages: 4.5/5
I ordered Nasi Goreng Kambing with Tehbotol. Nasi goreng kambing here has a delectable and one-of-a-kind taste that one will never forget. The portion is moderate. The seasoning seeps into the rice very well and thorough even though it was cooked in massive portions. Even the rice tasted like the goat meat. The meat was bomb af even though there wasn't many of it. Eat it while it's hot since it doesn't taste as great when it's not freshly cooked.
Price: 4/5
Quite pricey for nasi goreng. The taste is spectacular though, worth every penny.
Ambience: 3.5/5
Since it's located in a small alleyway, with a huge crowd, the seating wasn't near sufficient. Unsanitary. Some of the stool were located above the gutter and sometimes there would be rat or cockroach roaming the road.
Service: 3.5/5
Due to mass of costumers, the waiter/staff were not that friendly although they serve your orders fast. If you're going to have a takeaway, raise your voice a little and make sure the staff hears you.

4.2Starbucks [ Pondok Indah, Kafe ]
50% off for tumbler
Went here on late September and got 50% off since I brought my tumbler with me, what a treat!
Food and beverages: 4.5/5
I had iced green tea latte, beef quiche and peanut butter panini. Their green tea latte is one of the best I've ever tried since the combination is spot on and come on, who doesn't like green tea? I order this almost every time I come to starbucks. Green tea taste was still distinct, not too milky, not too sweet, and very soothing. Sadly they put a little bit too much ice in it. Beef quiche was so good. Tender, savory, and quite fulfilling for an appetizer, and beef strips were moderate. I don't know why my boyfriend likes the panini so much but for him it was the best dish starbucks has to offer. For me, it was good but not that special.
Pricing: 5/5
Standard pricing but when I came here, the drink was 50% off since I used my tumblr! A grande green tea latte for 27k?! Hell yes! Tips: always bring your tumbler when you come to starbucks since they have special discount for it.
Ambience: 4/5
This place is located on the 2nd floor of Street Gallery (you can enter here through either Street Gallery Mall or the skybridge from PIM). I picked the outdoor place since it overlooked the streets and I needed mild distractions from my work. We came here to do our work since it has many power outlets and this place offers quite a nice view. The outside area was pretty windy but not to the point it was bothersome. As it got late, I moved inside due to colder weather. The outdoor is a smoking place. Great place to chill. This place has the vibe that makes you want to stay here for long.
Service: 5/5
Baristas are so friendly and nice. They were all smiles when I ordered.

4.0Ojju [ Tebet, Korea ]
An abundance of mozarella
First things first: so not worth the type. I came here at 5 pm on a Wednesday and the waitlist is already 8 for the 2-3 pax. The presentation is quite fascinating (snapchat & instagram worthy) but the taste is so-so. The first thing you have to do when you come here is ask the waiter/waitress for a number according to one of the three seat packages (2-3 pax, 4-6 pax, and larger) and then wait until your number is being called.
Food and beverages: 3.5/5
I had rolling cheese chicken wings (mild) and watermelon soda. When the rolling cheese was delivered to us, the mozzarella was in bits and not yet melted, the wings were still full-sized, it had green chilli pepper on the cheese, and it came with four different dressings (corn with milk, kimchi, macaroni with sour dressing, and cucumber). When the waitress came, she would turn on the stove and when the cheese had melted, she would cut the wings into smaller pieces and rolled the cheese over it. This is the "exciting" part when you can update the process on every single social media platform you own (even when everyone has already seen it). Then the waitress would proceed to put half the chicken on your plate, the other half will still be on the platter. For the taste, I was disappointed because it didn't taste as great as it looked. Maybe it was because people was so hyped about it, I put high expectations. The seasoning was a little too salty. Mozzarella was good, the amount is generous. I didn't try all the dressings but I really like the corn with milk. It had sweet-and-salty combination that I really dig. But for me, the drink was waaay better than the food. Watermelon soda is basically soda water with lemon bits and a scoop of frozen watermelon. The fun is when you try to cut the watermelon (since it was frozen it was so hard to cut into it). The drink was very refreshing, next time I come here I'll order this again.
Pricing: 4/5
Standard pricing. You pay for the presentation since the taste wasn't that great.
Ambience: 4/5
It is located on food society (next to excelso) and in the corner. The place has cute decorations on the walls. Interior is mainly wood and had sofa seatings for larger pax. Every table has its own stove and a drawer for the utensils (it includes chopsticks, spoons, forks, and disposable plastic gloves). They play korean songs over here and the volume is not bothersome. The place is big but so many people are interested to come here it simply wasn't enough.
Service: 4.5/5
Waitress and waiters were so attentive. They were polite and so friendly. They were skilled at what they do and work well even when the place was full while still having a smile on their face.

3.8Excelso [ Tebet, Kafe ]
Fresh orange juice
I came here for a while since I was waiting for my turn at a restaurant nearby. This place is located in Food Society Kokas next to OJJU.
Food and beverages: 4/5
Last time I went here I just ordered orange juice. The juice was so fresh but they put too much ice in it. I've had english breakfast tea here, the size is quite moderate (three pours of tea cup) and the taste is standard.
Pricing: 3.5/5
Excelso is quite pricey compared to other coffee shops although the taste is slightly better.
Ambience: 3/5
This place is divided into two: non smoking and smoking. The nonsmoking place overlooks food society and only have 4 tables I think. The smoking place is larger with dim lighting but the scent of cigarette is very strong. Sofa is comfortable but a little dirty and there are many holes from cigarette butts. All in all pretty comfortable.
Service: 4/5
