    Finally I can taste Soupe à l'oignon

    This is the first time I tried Soupe à l'oignon (French Onion Soup) at Paul Plaza Senayan. Let's review it ! The soup is served at a small soup pot, they also provide 2 toasted bread with cheese gratin on the top of the soup. The soup texture is thick, creamy and rich of flavours. The flavours come from the combination of sauteed onions, red wine vinegar (which gives the acidity in the soup), and beef broth. It does look small, but to be honest I was satisfied by the richness of the soup although I must ordered a pot of tea to neutralize it since it made me really thirsty tho 😅

    The perfect Eggs Benedict

    Came here a couple of months ago. I was craving for Eggs Benedict at that time and when I realized that they have Eggs Benedict on their menu, I quickly ordered that. Eggs Benedict came out in a perfect form, they used English muffin as the base, a bacon, a perfectly poached egg, and the most important is that the Hollandaise Sauce had the perfect consistency. It also came with Mesclun Salad drizzled with white wine vinegar as their side dish. The Eggs Benedict tasted so perfect, the egg exploded once I sliced through it, and the salad tasted so amazing to me. I could say this is the most perfect Classic Eggs Benedict I've ever had ^^

    Bistro Baron [ Thamrin, Perancis ]

    A beautiful Forêt Noire

    Located inside Plaza Indonesia, Bistro Baron serves French cuisine as their speciality. Came here after dinner and just wanted to have a dessert. The Interior was classy with Navy Blue accent and table cloth which made it feels like a restaurant in the heart of Paris. Ordered their Forêt Noire which means Black Forest in English. The Forêt Noire came inside a Martini Glass which gave it a classy and elegant look, and the taste was amazing. The combination of chocolate, cream, and rum just made it so perfect. It was smooth, creamy, bitter sweet at the same time with a hint of alcoholic rum at the bottom layer of the Forêt Noire. Service was great also, the waiter was friendly to provide the information that I needed. Will come back here to try their Main Course since it looked so tempting also.

    Marugame Udon [ Muara Karang, Jepang ]

    Tempat makan udon terbaik

    Sudah kesekian kalinya makan di marugame udon. Dan kali ini aku akan mereview tentang zaru udonnya yang menurut aku ini enak. Zaru Udon berarti udon dingin dan cara makannya pun beda dengan udon panas. Cara makannya adalah ambil udon dengan sumpit lalu celupkan ke dalam saus shoyu yang disediakan kemudian makanlah. Rasanya dingin dan gurih, cukup memuaskan bagi anda yang sudah bosan dengan udon panas.

    Enjoy a cup of coffee from heights

    It's been my dream to go to The WESTIN Hotel since it is said to be the tallest hotel in Jakarta. Located at Gama Tower on 50th-69th floor, The WESTIN Hotel provides you an amazing cityscape view from height.

    I came here yesterday just to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee, so I ordered their Cappuccino and Caramel Eclair while my friend ordered Hot Lychee Tea, Hazelnut Choux, and 3 pcs of biscotti. All of them tasted really good to me especially the cappuccino that looked cool with the WESTIN text decoration on it, also the eclair had a decent amount of sweetness and it was the biggest eclair I've ever seen, Biscotti was crunchy and had an aromatic flavour, the Choux was tasty also because it was slightly bitter on the outside but the sweet hazelnut cream inside made the flavour balanced. The tea was also has a fragrance flavour of blended black tea with lychee scent.

    The interior itself was also classy and modern, as I expected from a 5 star hotel. The hospitality was good also, all of the employee had their smile on and wanted to give information and service toward us without hesitation. The only downside of this lounge is when I came here on Sunday, there wasn't any music performance or maybe just relaxing music from the sound system...so I felt like something was missing because it was just too quiet.

    Overall I had a nice experience on The WESTIN Hotel and I will come here again next time to bring the other friend and also to enjoy the view while sipping a cup of coffee.

    Txoko [ Senopati, Spanyol ]

    Basque cuisine

    Need something fancy, unique, and new experience? @txokojakarta is a great place for you then. Serving foods from Basque region of Spain, Chef @oskarurzelai will tease your tastebuds with his dishes. The place itself has a fun, colorful, and cozy design, with interior resembles a mediterranean seaside house.

    For the dish, the Garlic Prawn Pret A Porter is highly recommended here. The staff will come and torch the prawn on your table directly. The prawns got that smoky flavor and combined with the garlic and mayo sauce...amazing!

    If you need rice for your lunch, go for the Seaweed and Squid Mellow Rice. The rice has a similar texture like Italian risotto but comes with seaweed flavor which is very unique and interesting.

    For the dessert, I highly recommend you to try their Idiazabal Cheesecake. The cheesecake is made with Idiazabal cheese, a hard cheese produced only in Basque region which is very cheesy and creamy. Paired with their honey ice cream, this dessert will be a bomb. Try it and new york cheesecake will be nothing compared to this one.

    Psst...here they will give many complimentary dishes for you from assorted bread basket, croquettas, ice creams, and petit four box. All of these will surprise you and it is a very nice touch indeed. Also the chef will come out once in a while to your table and ask about your opinion about his dishes.
    Overall @txokojakarta is a very good restaurant with interesting foods, playful design, and also amazing experience. Will come back here next time to try the other dishes.

    Makanan brazillian otentik

    Pertama kali saya mendengar ada restoran brazil di jakarta, saya pikir wah ini kesempatan bagus untuk mencoba kuliner baru. Saya langsung mencoba reservasi restoran ini dan pergi utk mencicipinya. Saya memesan weekday lunch buffet (tidak termasuk churrasco), dan buffet yang disediakan cukup beragam dari salad, fritter, meat stew, sampe dessert. Salah satu masakan mereka yang membuat saya jatuh hati adalah moqueca (brazillian fish stew) yang entah mengapa enak sekali bagi saya. Saya akan coba ke resto ini lain kali untuk mencoba churrasco yang menjadi primadona disitu.

    Ristorante da Valentino [ Setiabudi, Italia ]

    Ristorante da Valentino Revisited

    So I got a plan to revisit Valentino once again. This time instead of ordering their business lunch menu, I chose to order their ala carte menu. I was pretty curious what real pizza taste like, the one that is baked in a traditional wood fire oven.

    So I ordered their Margherita Pizza, as one of the classic Italian. Then paired with buy 1 get 1 dessert from Club Ala Carte application. For dessert I ordered Classic Tiramisu, while my partner ordered Souffle al Cioccolato as the free dessert.

    They also gave us a welcome bread served with Salsa Verde as a dip. As our pizza had come, we tried it and I could describe that the pizza is different than the typical pizza. It has a crust on the side which was hand stretch dough, the pizza was thin, with a slightly burnt flavor on the edge of the pizza because of the direct fire from the wood fire oven. Combined with tomato puree, basil, mozzarella plus salsa verde dipping made the pizza even more tasty.

    For the Tiramisu, I heard that Valentino serves the best Tiramisu in this town. Yes, I could confirm that the tiramisu was really really good, served in a classic way using espresso and savoiardi (lady finger). The souffle al ciccolato also shines here as the texture of the souffle was just right, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream also made it better.

    For my surprise, Chef Marco gave me a complimentary Panna Cotta. Served with classic raspberry coulis and caramel dome, the Panna Cotta was really good and the texture was just perfect.

    Overall, I was really satisfied when revisit Valentino, as I could meet Chef Marco on person and took a picture together with him. And for the food, it's all good and I think it's worth a penny.

    Gaia [ Thamrin, Italia ]

    Italian restaurant with amazing view from top

    I had already heard that Altitude at the plaza is a really amazing place to dine, ranging from italian to japanese restaurants. So I gave it a try on GAIA, an italian fine dining restaurant. I went there at the lunch time and ordered the lunch package which already includes appetizer, main course, and also dessert. For the appetizer I chose soup of the day which is a pumpkin soup for the appetizer, grilled tuna with pecorino crust for main course, and coffee panna cotta for the dessert. All of them tasted really good for me and the waiter there was really helpful and willingly to serve us with smile. The restaurant itself has a large window which let you dine with a gorgeous view of Jakarta. Will be come back again sometime to try the other restaurants :)

    Bottlenose Shack [ Slipi, Kafe ]

    Place for Croffles

    Got a 50k discount coupon from PergiKuliner, so I gave it a try. This cafe is located at Tribeca building, the one in front of Central Park mall irself. From outside, this cafe looked so cozy, the cafe itself isn't really spacious tho as it's quite narrow with a big tree in the middle of the cafe. They also have an outdoor area that looks cool for chilling and hangout.

    Ordered their London Fog Croffles, which turned out to be really delicious. It consisted of 2 pieces of Croffles (Croissant Waffles), a scoop of vanilla ice cream, granola seed, a slice of fruit compote (I still wonder what fruit it was, was it a peach or persimmon?), and of course the London fog sauce which made from Earl Grey Tea combined with Maple syrup. It was so so good.

    Also ordered their Chamomile Tea which they used JING brand as their choice of tea. As I expected, every tea from JING does give a smooth and calming sensation as it is light and fragrant at the same time.

    Will come back to this cafe next time to try their other croffles (especially the savory one) :3
