    Carbon [ Setiabudi, Meksiko,Peru ]

    Carbon

    Blackened Wagyu Tongue (395k) 7/10
Tongue had incredibly soft and juicy texture, as expected from being cooked for 12 hours, sadly they were kind of tasteless. My favourite parts were the sauces, which includes the herbs chimichurri, tomatillo salsa and aji verde

    Chori Queso (135k) 7.5/10
This was mostly cheese vs brussel sprouts imo, the chorizo and mushroom were nice but kinda got overwhelmed by the cheese. Not bad for appetizer but a bit too heavy for me.

    Mexican Street Corn (90k) 7/10
The baby corns had nice crunchy texture thanks to the crispy quinoa, however the flavour was kinda lacking. I know there’s supposed to be cheese and chili flakes but I couldn’t really taste it.

    Chuddos (100k) 7/10
Look very cute but taste wise it’s just like you standard churros. The goat cheese dulce de leche and hot cacao champurrado sauces were amazing though, I would buy them separately if I could hahaha. 5/10 for the churros but 9/10 for the sauces.

    Creme Brulee (85k) 4/10
The most underwhelming dessert here despite the intagramable presentation. Sadly in our case the top tasted very burnt (maybe because they press the iron for too long?). Expecting more of cheese like taste since they use Athan cheese but it was milky instead.

    Dominica [ Menteng, Italia ]

    Dominica

    Truffle Cream Gnocchi (175k) 6.5/10
Love the sauce and how strong the truffle was. Problem was with the gnocchi… they did a good job browning the exterior, however the insides were too soft and mushy.

    Spicy Rigatoni Meatballs (185k) 7/10
Personally enjoyed thus more vs the gnocchi since pasta was al dente. Think the pasta could have tasted better had the meatball chunks been bigger. Also, it wasn’t spicy enough for me.

    Double Cut Rib Eye 600gr (1.350k) 6/10
We requested medium rare but steak came with uneven doneness ranging from rare all the way to medium… Taste wise it was alright, rib eye has never been my favourite cut. The salsa verde and red wine sauce made it more enjoyable

    Pork Belly (245k) 5.5/10
It was alright, fat to meat ratio was off for my taste. Highlight was more so the roasted potato vs the roasted pork belly. The salsa verde didn’t really work with the pork belly tbh.

    Honey Brie (175k) 5/10
It was just standard for me. Cheese could be stronger and could not taste any of the red wine. Pizza dough was just okay. Prefer Braud/Mozzeria honey pizza.

    Brasserie Patty [ SCBD, Barat,Perancis ]

    Brasserie Patty

    Calf’s Sweetbreads (225k) 7.5/10
A unique dish that in my knowledge are only served here. Tasted a fair bit like foie gras but slighty grittier. Bonus for not being as fatty.

Aloyau de Boeuf 500 gr (850k) with Peppercorn Sauce (40k) 7.5/10
I didn’t really expect much from the steak as my experience in patty and sons left a lot to be desired, however I was pleasantly surprised. Well done on the dry aged steak, juicy and meaty. Fries were really good as well.

    Tonnarelli (150k) 6/10
Pasta with truffle butter. Portion was tiny but the homemade pasta was yummy. Better to share as this got really heavy past the second bite.

    Chicken Rotisserie (145k) 5.5/10
Pretty average dish vs the other. Chicken was juicy but dish was lacking flavour. Personally I had to dip it to the peppercorn sauce to enjoy it.

Two Seven Four (274 Street) [ Pantai Indah Kapuk, Kafe ]

    274 Street

Visited this place as they have some unique coffee beans from Australia (ONA and codeblack). While my cappuccino was quite nice, I definitely felt that my manual brew was over extracted. Matcha latte is just okay. They are doing collaboration with lemon 8 until 20th June (there’s some promo going on I believe?)

    French Toast (95k) 8/10
The lemon filling was refreshing and really differentiate this french toast vs other offerings in Jakarta. Generous amount of fruits and berry coulis as well. If you are someone who usually dislike french toast for being too sweet I think you’ll like this since it’s more tangy and sour. The ice cream and vanilla chantilly gave nice dose of sweetness. An unexpected finding in this cafe for sure.

    Salty Maple Pancake (95k) 6/10
Pancakes were denser and drier than expected. Servings were very generous (you got 3 stacks) but ratio vs the toppings were off. Flavour wise, the maple actually complemented the savoury notes from the bacon, hollandaise, and egg. It’s just you end of running out of toppings by the time you get to the second and third pancakes😅.

    Egg Benies (85k) 4/10
My least fav since I felt like it was very average. The croissant was a massive letdown as it was neither buttery nor flaky, tasted like one of those free croissant bread you get in planes or hospital. Hollandaise was fine but they put too much on, dousing both the croissant and greens underneath. I did like that they gave us two perfectly runny eggs vs just one.

    Pokeshacc [ Kuningan, Hawaii ]

    Pokeshacc

    So-Cal Deluxe (S - 80k) 8.5/10
Tuna, salmon, kyuri, kani salad, edamame, avocado, onion, tobiko, wakegi, and cilantro on top of sushi rice. Love how light the ponzu and goma oil were. Generous amount of fresh salmon and tuna (can’t say that about other poke bowl brands in Jakarta). Amazed by how good their avocado was, just at the right consistency and creaminess. On my first visit the base was just like regular white rice, fortunately when I went back they already fixed it into proper sushi rice.

    Flaming Salmon (S - 80k) 7.5/10
Aburi salmon, furikake, crab salad, wakegi, edamame, onion, cilantro, tobiko, negi, and tanuki with sriracha aioli. A creamier version of poke bowl for those of you that likes mentai. Best part was definitely the crunchy tempura bits hahaha. It was enjoyable though eventually got too heavy for me. Maybe they could give option to make it spicier to counter the aioli?

    Hawaiian Iced Tea (32k) 7.5/10
It was super hot when I visited and this drink was super refreshing. The strong passionfruit flavour really came through, making it perfect sweet-summer drink to go with your poke.

    Enmaru [ Thamrin, Jepang ]

    Enmaru

Foods were average imo. Great ambiance, service, and view for celebration/special occasion if you are looking for Japanese fine dining option that’s not too expensive though.

    Wagyu Beef Chirasi (190k) 5/10
Nothing special. Beef did not taste like wagyu to me and the bowl was lacking flavour.

    Crispy Salmon Roll 4pcs (115k) 6.5/10
Enjoyable if a bit basic. The crispies on the sides added a nice crunch and you get quite generous slices of salmon.

    Unagi Black Roll (95k) 7.5/10
This roll was weirdly the stand out despite me not liking sushi roll in general. The cream cheese with unagi actually tasted good😅.

    Sasami Tempura Soba (78k) 5/10
Soba was overcooked and the broth just tasted sweet without umami notes. Chicken tempura was okay.

    Yaki Shabu Gohan (158k) 6.5/10
For some reason the beef quality was far better vs the wagyu beef chirasi. Recommend mixing the egg to make it more creamy.

    Gindara Grill (288k) 7/10
Fish tasted very buttery and sauce was delish. Took a very long time to prepare though.

    Moriawase (198k) 6.5/10
Got 3 different sashimi (2 pieces each). Fresh but slices could be thicker.

    Ishiyaki Collagen Ramen (130k) 5/10
The broth was very watery and lacking flavour. Noodles were also overcooked for my taste and lacking that springy texture.

    Matcha Tiramisu (55k) 3/10
Too much cream without any other dimension. Matcha taste itself was barely there, lacking any noticeable bitter-earthy notes.

    Eihire (98k) 6/10
Dried stingray fin. Pretty unique appetiser but you got very tiny amount.

    Garlic Fried Rice (60k) 6.5/10
Dad got this as he wasn’t full yet (portions were on the smaller end here) but it was a pretty good fried rice. Smokey, garlicky, and not clumpy. Reminds me of Tatemukai one.

    Carbon [ Setiabudi, Meksiko,Peru ]

    Carbon

    Mixed Crudo Platter (320k) 7.5/10
Got this as my friend wanted to try out Peruvian menu. Out of the 5 ceviches, I would say the stand outs were the scallop and seabass. The shrimp, tuna, and octopus were b. The platter came accompanied by Peruvian popcorn and giant corn, however both are kinda tasteless on their own since traditionally they’re eaten together with the ceviche.

    Cauliflower Steak (110k) 9/10
I’m a big fan of cauliflower in general and this was unexpectedly great (honestly might prefer this over Acta). Nicely charred without going to burnt territory. The toasted hazelnut added nice crunch and nuttiness which offset the creamy cilantro aioli.

    Chipirones (110k) 7/10
Deep fried squid ink with aioli and pickled aji charapita. The squid ink was b, highlight was definitely the charapita, they were like those crackly pearls that pops once inside your mouth. Not overwhelmingly spicy but added a nice heat to the dish. Wish they put a lot more though.

    Al Pastor Duck (210k) 6/10
Duck meat was succulent but personally I wasn’t a fan of how chewy the skin was, would have been better if it had ben crispy. The pineapple salsa and red sauce were very enjoyable though, wish they put more. We opted for mixed (crispy and soft) tortilla and you got 4 of each.

    Siete Leches (75k) 7.5/10
Their take on classic tres leches with 7 different milk components, including a base of milk sponge cake soaked with condensed milk and goat cheese diplomat. My favourite dessert here since I’m a big milk fan in general, the frozen yoghurt and burnt milk crumbs also help to lighten the dish from being too heavy.

    Infusion Flight (400k) 5/10
We were very excited to try this seeing as the drinks were made in house and even have tequila fountain. Unfortunately the end results were for the most part lacking, with the flavours being diluted (almost all the fruit based drinks) or off putting (coconut-tequila tasted so wrong). The most decent ones were Hibiscus and Coffee.

Le Quartier [ Senopati, Perancis ]

    Le Quartier

    Tenderloin Periguex (658k) 7.5/10
Perfectly cooked to rare. The mashed potato was silky smooth and bernaise sauce went well with the steak.

    Beef Cheeks (396k) 7.5/10
My mom said this reminded her of semur🤣. One of the dish I often repeat order in Le Quartier (along their duck confit but we didn’t get that during this visit).

    Spaghetti Vongole (246k) 7/10
Didn’t taste like traditional vongole, it’s fair bit creamier and the parsley was very dominant. We still enjoyed it though.

    Rosti Smoked Salmon (298k) 6/10
I think the rosti was a tad to overcooked since it was almost burnt. That said, they were generous with the smoked salmon slices.

    Eggs Benedicte (178k) 6.5/10
Good in a typical eggs benedict taste. The beef bacon tasted really weird, if you eat pork I would say go for the ham.

    Mushroom Soup (96k) 6/10
Fragrant truffle smell and rich creamy soup. Not bad.

    Cream Corn (88k) 7/10
Yummy, corn was very sweet and creamy. Gets heavy after a while though.

    Chocolate Souffle (162k) 5/10
Not as good as my previous visit, kinda too eggy and lacking strong chocolate flavour.

    Braud [ Senopati, Kafe ]

    Braud

    Baked Cheese (120k) 9/10
Soft and melty camembert mixed with buttery puff pastry and sweet honey. Only con is that the portion is so small.

    Cinque Formaggi (180k) 8.5/10
Honestly I think Braud PM menus excel the most when they use cheese as the main ingredients. This was like your usual quattro formaggi pizza on steroids for cheese lovers. Very strong cheese flavours with nice sourdough pizza crust.

    Sundried Tomato Tagliolini (110k) 6/10
I couldn’t get past the pasta texture, it was so overcook that it tasted like misua😓. Despite all the interesting components like basil oil and straciatella, the overall flavour was kinda all over the place and missing that punch.

    Oxtail on Toast (100k) 6/10
I was honestly taken aback with how sweet the wine braised oxtail was? Mixed with the already buttery brioche, this dish tasted very heavy.

    Cheeky Pot Pie (225k) 5.5/10
For some reason all their meat menus we ordered tasted sweet? My friends joked that it resembled empal. If you put the jus it got even more sweet. Quite confusing to my palate and wouldn’t recommend this.

    Tiramisu (60k) 6.5/10
Decent tiramisu, not too heavy and sweet. Coffee could be a lot stronger and missing the rum though.

    Baba Au Rhum (70k) 7/10
Was expecting traditional looking French baba au rhum but kudos for the creativity. More light and refreshing in contrast to the tiramisu.

    Sesame Sticky Bun (30k) 7.5/10
Got this for takeaways. Very strong earth-nutty flavours from the sesame. Definitely unique and I really like the crunchy feuillitine on top the bun.

    Hazelnut Croissant (42k) 9/10
My go to everytime I visit Bali, managed to snag this when it was available in Jakarta. Loaded with hazelnut from the chopped bits at the top and the generous creamy filling.

    Kimchi Cheddar Croissant (45k) 5/10
This was like 80% plain croissant with minimum cheese and kimchi. For some reason the kimchi was only put in the ends of the croissant.

Tiembi Cafe [ Meruya, Kafe ]

    Tiembi

    Tiembi Signature Ramen (75k) 7.5/10
Quite innovative as they used oatmilk as the base of the broth. Very thick and creamy, the chilli oil was definitely needed to help cut through the richness. Chicken and egg were also nicely prepared. Noodles didn’t really resemble a ramen though (very slippy and somewhat translucent?) and personally too soft for my liking.

    Fomo Pho (70k) 4/10
Curious to try this since I saw a food blogger stating that the broth was super thick and flavourful. Sadly during my visit the broth was super bland, which instantly made me not want to eat it. A shame since they are quite generous with the protein and sauces.

    Fries (N/A)
Tiembi is currently having an offer of free fries with your order when you sign up as their member. Crunchy and salty, can’t go wrong with fries.

    Magic (40k) 8.5/10
Double shot of cappucino. Haven’t had this outside of Australia for a long time. Great cup of coffee and makes me want to try their manual brew next.

    Himalaya (38k) 7/10
Milky coffee with cheese foam on top. Usually I don’t really like these kinds of dessert-like coffee but this was still okay, think they managed to find a nice balance of creamy-sweet-savoury.

    Roasted Sesame Matcha (38k) 7/10
The roasted sesame was nicely fragrant and added a nice crunch to the drink. Matcha was sadly a bit too watery. Not too sweet and tasted a bit smoky from the roasted sesame.

Iced Passion Fruit Tea (29k) 6/10
Just your usual iced tea but with salt across the rim of the glass. Taste wise still pretty strong and not too diluted with ice.
