Pistachio Brownies Regular (60k) 7.5/10
Excited to try this as I am a huge fan of pistachio. However, for some reason this variant is not as fudgy as other fudgybro’s flavours. They are very generous with the pistachio but texture is more cakey vs fudgy.

Served with peppercorn and porcini mushroom. Chicken had nice sear on its outer crust and remain juicy. French fries was also really good, crunchy and well seasoned.

Ube Velvet (8/10)
Have been curious about this cake for a while and finally managed to try it out. Overall, it was pretty good. Prominent ube flavour while not overbearingly sweet. I think parents will like this Union cake the most. That said, their Red Velvet remains my favourite over this one. I think I would have liked this more had all the layers been ube instead of the traditional vanilla/yellow cake.

The newly renovated OG brunch place in Menteng. Curious to try out their wine bar MO next time

Baklava French Toast (100k) 7.5/10
As a self proclaimed french toast connoisseur, I had to try this menu. I was a bit taken aback with how big the portion was but overall it was quite good. The croissant loaf concept was really unique unfortunately couldn’t really taste the croissant layers. I think the loaves got soaked by all the decadent toppings of pistachio custard, mascarpone, honey, and ice cream. All these components tasted great but did make the croissant heavy after a while. The freshness from the berries really helped to lighten the dish though.

Smoked Salmon Croque Madame (130k) 6.5/10
Fairly straightforward dish. Well done tweak done to a classic brunch menu if a bit monotone in taste for me. My friend noted that smoked salmons were too little vs the bread ratio. We also couldn’t really taste the truffle in this dish. The mustard and smoked salmon did prevent the dish from being too heavy.

Red Velvet (10/10)
My favourite cake in Indonesia. Consistent quality over the years with the taste never changing. I was once gifted this cake and ate 4 slices of this cake in one sitting. Balanced cream cheese to cake ratio and very generous amount of crunchy nougat.

Roasted Baby Chicken (150k) 7.5/10
As someone who typically only ordered cakes from Union, I was pleasantly surprised by this menu. Portion was quite big despite being a baby chicken and the meat was juicy and tender. It was also quite flavorful to ear on its own without any additional sauce. They ran out of salsa verde so the sauce was substituted with mushroom (not a big deal). French fries were also executed nicely, being perfectly crunchy without overly crispy. Perfect level of saltiness as well.
