Komunal 88

Udah lama banget sejak trakhir ke komunal, mungin sekitar 3 tahun lalu, kaget juga ternyata masih eksis, aku kira uda tutup wkwk. Tempatnya masih sama seperti dulu, bedanya sekarang ada outdoornya. Interiornya minimalis, dengan suasana yang casual, homey dan cozy. Komunal ini punya orang perancis, jadi ada beberapa bumbu/bahan makanan yang dijual disini yang masih import. 

Menunya sangat bervariasi, menu westeen food, disini non halal ya karena cukup banyak menu yang mengandung pork. Aku dan keluarga pesen beberapa menu, yaitu :
- ricotta pancake 95k : pancakenya disini moist, ukurannya kecil, cukup tebal  dan dapat 7 pcs, disajikan dengan caramel sauce, dan strawberry sauce. Enak!

- italian benedict 115k : slices of pork ham, with poached eggs, ricotta cheese, truffle hollandaise saucenya enak banget, tidak lupa juga country loaf di pling bawah, tapi sayang ini keras dan alot, susah gigitnya. 

- parma ravioli gratin 110k : ini enak banget, cheesy creamy, raviolinya al dente. Sangking creamynya sampai kejunya macam soup sepenuh wadahnya. Disajikan di wadah pan. 

- chocolate croissant : NOT one of the best croissant. Teksturnya crisp tapi not flaky. 

- cortado 35k : kopinya strong, bold, tipical intense coffee. 

Well next time pasti bakal balik lagi kesini, penasaran menu lainnya

Last Sunday I got an opportunity to enjoy an Upscale Dinner at Komunal 88.
I can say this is the place for people who want to enjoy their quality time with great food and no worries about formal dress code. Casually enjoy the upscale dinner is really possible here. 

 For this dinner time, they dimmed the light and made it more romantic. 

 I was trying one of 3 types set menu named Avido. It was consist of Mise en Bouche , Antipasti, Primi, Secondi, and Dolci. It is also possible if you want to pair it with wine (already chosen by Komunal 88 so no need to worry about which wine goes best for the food). This set menu was adequate for 2 persons. 

 Mise en Bouche 

This one is to prepare our mouth before enjoying the meals. What you will get will be depends on the chef's inspiration that very moment. What I got might not be the same with what you get.

That time I got the creation with falafel as the star on the plate. The taste was wonderful. Although I am not a fan of spicy dishes, this dish gave me a good memory from the combination of the sauce with the falafel itself.Which I could taste tomatoes , good level of spiciness (to be honest I don't know the source but I believe it was from the sauce under the falafel), savory, and a little bit of sour in one. It was a playful taste for me in a good way. I couldn't describe all the dishes perfectly but I guarantee you will understand me when you taste it by yourself. 

 Surprise , surprise.

 I guess that day was my lucky day because I could try the super fresh oyster ( no joke) with another good surprise of spicy and sour taste that came along with the oyster. The sour taste kind of dominant but it was like cleaning my palate and made me more ready to enjoy the other dishes. 

 The surprise continues. 

 Antipasti 

Although we are already in rainy season, I enjoyed a summer in parma that night.
It was prosciutto slices, pomelo, pumpkin seed, strawberry and mint ricotta relish. This menu supposed to use fresh peach instead of pomelo but due to rarity of the goods they replaced it with pomelo. The taste still amazing, to really enjoy it, once again I need to remind you to combine all the component and you will taste the balance in your mouth. The savory, the sour, sweetnees and meaty and freshness in one. For sometimes I doesn't like the smell of proscuitto but in this dish the smell were less and I loved it. 

 PRIMI 

 For primi we chose Sea Urchin Capellini
it was oglio olio e peperoncino De Cecco angel hair ( my fav type of pasta :D) with fresh Uni from Lombok & bottarga on pesto sauce ( which also my fav sauce ^^)
FYI, their seafood was 100 % sustainable seafood and also joining the WWF signing blue.
The sea urchin wasn't too much on my plate but I can say it was a good deal comparing to the price. The chef suggested that I mixed it all together before eating. When you mix it the pesto sauce will be dominated the dish. That will be a good thing for those who like pesto. And no need to worry the tomato in the dish also will make the taste well balanced too. Make sure you enjoy all the component together. 

 SECONDI 

 Black Angus Tenderloin medium rare
for this dish you need to be patient a little bit because they said the best is to let it rest for 5-10 mins before serve it to the customer and my experience proved the statement was true.
The meat was so tender and juicy, easy to cut and chew. When they served it I could smell the nice smell of red wine which I really love. I like to make my own steak at home with red wine but this one is of course in higher level.
the plum sauce was a little bit strong but the key is you enjoy it along with other component to make it balance. I like to mixed it with the mashed potato. For the steak itself I like to eat it with the gravy ( hopefully I am right on this one) and sauteed vegetables. 

 DOLCI 

 For the dessert, I enjoyed Wellington Panna Cotta
The Panna Cotta wasn't firm and hmm... more like cream or mousse but still taste like one. It gave me a good surprise by experiencing different texture of Panna Cotta which different from most of Panna Cotta that I have ever tasted. Always 1st time for everything right? And turned out good for me. The sweetness of the Panna Cotta, Red Velvet and French Meringue was suitable for my palate and even well balanced with the sour taste from red fruits & strawberry ice cream.

It was a surprising and memorable experience in wonderful way . 

 Note : They separated the cutlery by colors for pork and non pork dishes. Plus they also taking part of waste for change

Search comfort place with little antique shop? Only at Komunal 88! Waktu itu kesini karena mau ketemu client, dan pertama kali kesini banyak banget wisatawan luar ketimbang org indonya.

Disini selain menjual makanan, coffee, dan patiseri, mereka juga menjual produk makanan khas western berupa sauce, olive oil, dsb. Mereka juga menjual barang daur ulang yang keren dan unik seperti sumpit, tas, gelas, sedotan, dsb.

Tempatnya juga bersih, banyak sofa enak buat nongkrong. Tapi kalau ramai, agak sumpek karena atapnya pendek, jadi terkesan sempit.

Untuk menunya sendiri, saya dan client saya memilih beberapa makanan maupun minuman :

1. Strawberry Tart
Bentuknya eye catching banget, dan ukurannya besar. Dari segi rasa, agak asam dan crumbly. Segar banget untuk pecinta dessert yang asam.

2. Brioche
Rotinya fluffy, manis, enak cocok banget sambil ditemani kopi👌

3. Hot Cappuccino & Cafe Latte
Kopinya sih juara! Rasanya rich deep gitu, terus latte artnya bagus. Suka banget ngeliatnya sampe gak tega buat diminum..

4. Virgin Mojito
Minuman segar yang cocok buat membersihkan lidah sehabis minum kopi. Rasanya dingin dan asam.

Belakangan suka croissant lagi, jadi waktu di Kemang ingat-ingat Komunal88 ini punya croissant. Harapannya sih ada yang rasanya unik tapi ternyata tidak (atau belum) ada, jadi pilih cheese croissant.

Di etalase ukurannya terlihat standar. Pas dihidangkan di piring, setelah dihangatkan, kok jadi besar ya? Alhasil karena ini acaranya cuma ngemil sore, cuma habis separuhnya. Soalnya selain besar, isi kejunya juga padat, entah berapa macam keju yang dipakai. Dan tekstur bagian luar croissant yang keemasan itu, oh so good! Bahkan saya sangat menikmati pinggir croissant yang tidak kena keju sekalipun. Stafnya baik banget, menganjurkan saya membungkus sisanya meski bentuknya sudah enggak keruan.

Menemani croissant, hot cappuccino (38 ribu) jadi pilihan saya. Ini juga terhidang di cangkir yang sedikit lebih besar daripada rata-rata, jadi puas deh apalagi cappuccino ini bold.

Sebelum pulang saya bungkus carrot cake dan termasuk salah satu carrot cake terlezat yang pernah saya makan.

Udah lama denger kalau komunal88 tempat, makanan, dan kopinya oke, akhirnya kesampaian juga makan disana hari Minggu. 

Kesan pertama, tempatnya bener cozy dan 'bule' banget. Di satu sisi ada pajangan kue-kue dan pastry yang menggoda, di pojok lain ada jualan minuman dan buah-buahan. Di bagian tengah ada bar area yang mejanya lebih tinggi dan casual untuk yang cuma dateng sendiri atau berdua. Lighting dalam ruangan agak redup tapi banyak jendela kaca jadi cukup terang. Suasananya rasanya benar2 buat ekspat banget, meskipun ga ada sofa, tapi uda kebayang bisa ngabisin waktu berjam2 disini.

Yang aku pesen:

- Komunal Latte
Ini caffe latte special mereka yang porsinya 2x lipat latte biasa dan disajiin di dalam gelas putih tinggi. Porsinya banyak jadi pas buat yang mau lama-lama disini. First sip, the coffee is really good, recommended! Kopinya ga langsung terasa nendang bikin bangun, tapi makin diminum makin enak. Susunya agak banyak karena ini double latte, ga terlalu manis sih, tapi mungkin yang gamau susunya terlalu banyak pesen latte biasa aja. Pas dateng agak kepanasan, tapi karena aku lama disini jadi sampai akhir masi cukup panas kopinya. Uda dipikirin banget, jadi tamba suka sama tempat ini. 

- Barramundi Spaghetti
Ini barramundi-nya enak, super crunchy, tanpa tulang, ga amis, asin-nya pas, love it!   Tapi spaghetti-nya terlalu lembek dan teksturnya aneh, rasanya jadi kaya makan bakmi ayam. Selera-nya mungkin lebih ke selera bule ya. Yang mengharapkan spaghetti al-dente, lebih baik pesen menu yang lain. 

- Religieuse Vanilla
Pilihan kue-kuenya ngingetin kaya kafe-kafe di Bali. Ini kaya kue sus tingkat gitu, tekstur kue-nya garing renyah tipis dan dalemnya fla beku rasa Vanila. Ini enak, tapi kemanisan buatku soalnya atasnya pake gula lagi. Kalau yang suka manis sih harusnya suka. Quite good. 

Overall, this place is really recommended. 
The service is also real nice, sebanding lurus sama harganya. Sigap banget. Kalau ada piring kantor langsung diangkat, abis minum kopi ditanyain rasanya gimana, trus pas kita mau foto2 interiornya mas-nya langsung otomatis nunduk biar ga kefoto 

Will come back often for sure!!

Kunjungan kedua kalinya di Komunal88 dan jelas pake memo perkul dong~

Ice Latte: ukurannya cukup pas menurut gue dan gak strong kopinya which i like it

Mandarin juice: Ternyata kecil bgt! Padahal gue udah expect tinggi dan rasanya pun yaudah b aja

Octoppus Carpaccio: Menu baru seharga 80k, buat yg suka octopus mentah gue rasa bakal suka. Karena rasanya nyegerin menurut gue ditambah sayuran dan almond yg bikin rasa makin yummy!

Chef’s Tagliatelle: Fettucine yang enak sumpah! Dagingnya lembut, ada terongnya which is i like it juga tapi gak aneh, cocok gt

Ricotta Pancakes: Gue bisa bilang ini 7 dwarfs karna ada 7 pancakes kecil2 tapi rasany so gweeed! Dikasih saus ada 3, nutella, cream, dan signature strawberry sauce nya mereka. The best sih menurut gue

Revisit kali ini tidak mengecewakan~
