Why you will love it ❤
1. All kinds of meat and you can choose which one suits your taste. I personally like the spicy suki shabu, suki shabu and the rosu because I like my meat thinly cut with not too much fat.
2. The takoyaki! You probably think why would I want to order takoyaki in a Japanese barbeque place? Get this one. It's crispy and the sauce is well-balanced. Make sure you wait a while though, it can get hot.
3. The service is superrrr nice. They were patient in explaining (my first time here) and they changed the barbeque cast iron 4 times to ensure we do not get that annoying burnt taste on our meat (without even being told to). Great staff and great initiative. We asked and normally per table, they would change 4-5 times the cast iron. I love it when restaurants pay attention to little details like these.
4. The caramel ice cream is a nice closing for the dessert. Not too sweet and crazy but cleanses the palette quite well.
5. You know the feeling when you have eaten in a barbeque restaurant you come home smelling all smokeyish? Gyu-kaku cannot relate. I notice they directly suck all the smoke built-in the stove, this way the experience is super enjoyable. And you know how sometimes when the meat is too fatty the barbeque becomes too firey? Did not happen here! Maybe it was the meat. Maybe it was the stove. Either way: enjoyable eating and cooking experience.

What could be improved 🙏
1. The sauce. Don't get me wrong, the sauce is good. But I think it has a potential to be great. To me it lacks a bold flavour, would be better if they have a more pronounced sweet and spicy flavour. Both the sauce, albeit good I think is forgettable. If I come back, it's because of the meat that is already perfectly marinated and not the dipping sauce.
2. The freshness of the squid, somehow could be improved. Although I understand this is a barbeque restaurant specializing in meat and not in seafood.
3. I highly do not recommend the juicy beef pot. The beef is too fatty that it cannot be enjoyed. If you like your meat fatty go with the dragon karubi instead. But then again, it all comes back to preference. Some like it fatty some like it lean. One thing is for sure though, the food and the service will be the reason I come back!
