Why you will love it: 1. The food here is just excellent, here's what I had (in my visit this time): -Sake Aburi Sushi: If this sushi were a person, you will make poems and songs about her. She is beauty, she is grace. Perfectly torched salmon, generous portion and teriyaki sauce that blends all the flavour together. I always come back for this. Must-order! -Crunchy Salmon Roll: They take portion seriously here. The size is generous. Great if you like that extra crunch from panco in your sushi with a bit of sweet sauce (which is just right, not overwhelming). Sort of like if a Salmon Maki and Sake Aburi got married, this would be their kid and they "rebel" a bit by adding panco. -Chuka Wakame: It's always fresh here. So definitely one of my favourite which I almost always order. Portion is generous too. -Edamame: Complimentary. They usually give this while you wait for your food. But during my visit, they were fast so this arrived with all the food. 2. Plenty of parking 3. They have special priced menus specifically for take out. Check it out.
What could be improved:0 1. During peak hours will get busy, so check google and try to go during non-peak hours. FYI they're closed on Mondays, plan your schedule wisely! 2. You might get confused why there's a chair blocking the entrance. Just click the bell and you will be shown your seat or entered to a waiting list. 3. They only accept cash or bank transfers. But! I did see an EDC in my last visit, so maybe they accept debit card now?
Why you will love it: 1. Lots of branches. 2. On online delivery app, you know which drinks are more popular in what country. Thought this was an interesting strategy! I know what other countries like and provide a tip on what to order. Great idea!
What could be improved: 1. The Mango Alisan Tea is too sweet, and I drink lots of boba and tea so my sweet tolerance is high. So do reduce the sugar, I think 70% or 30% would be better. 2. I wish the tea flavour was more dominant. The tea is lost as the mango overpowers everything. You know how sometimes there's one person who dominates the convo? Yeah, that's not it.
Why you will love it: 1. The overall gudeg experience is lovely. This is more on the sweeter side though. Here's what I had: -Gudeg: more of the dry gudeg type, this is a sweet type of gudeg. For me, it's just right though. I do prefer my gudeg a bit sweeter. Just like my favourite smile. #ay -Krecek: they should add bird eye chilli here if we request it. -Telur pindang: the egg has absorbed the flavour. Comes with a nice sweet broth. -Sambal: don't be fooled by the look of the sambal, this tastes spicier than it looks. It binds the overall flavour of the dish. Like a beautiful melody, it creates a perfect symphony. -Tahu bacem: the tofu has fully soaked all that flavours. Tofu is way better than their tempe. It's super flavourful. 2. All of the food is packed neatly so you won't need to worry about food spilling. 3. Fast service.
What could be improved: 1. Would be great if they added bird eye chilli in the krecek (especially if we request on the note) 2. I wish they had the option to buy their gudeg and krecek ala carte. Portion of rice is generous, so more gudeg and krecek would be great. Because I want more of that!
Menu (online app): Gudeg Telor Pindang (27K): 8.7/10 Tahu bacem (3K): 8.3/10 Note: there is more krecek, I just didn't put it in the box yet.
Why you will love it: The food in McDonald's is comforting. Is it the best food out there? No. But there is something comforting with every bite of the food here. Sometimes, comfort food brings more pleasure than great food. Especially if you just need a little extra cheering up or even more reason to be happy. The fries are perfection. For me, every meal in McDonald's is a happy meal.
What could be improved: Maybe next time I will order the Big Mac sauce separately. Extra sauce was definitely important because the normal portion needed more sauce, but extra sauce might be overwhelming. I wish there was a middle ground.
Menu (online app): Big Mac meal, extra sauce (50K): 8.0/10
Why you will love it: 1. The quality of the food, this is what I had: -Bakmi Iga Membara: The bakmi has a perfect texture, not too soft but just has the right chewiness and nicely seasoned (savory, not sweet). The ribs are tender, nicely cooked and goes well with the sambal. Nice portion of fried shallots added. But what really surprised me was the mushroom topping. I don't know what they did with that seasoning. I want that, always and forever. If only I could buy more of this mushroom topping. Portion might look small, but because of the generous topping, I think it's enough. If not, that just means you have to try their sidedish. -Vanilla Iced Tea: This has a sweet hint because of the vanilla they add. Nothing particularly special though, then again maybe that was the intention. 2. Has a very homy cozy vibe. Full of green plants and wooden interior. Feels like you are dining in your family's house. Perfect for bringing friends, family, colleagues or that someone you call home. 3. It's not located on the main road, but that adds to the charm. The place is a bit hidden. Bakmi Sedjuk is popular with lots of branches, but the location makes it feel like a hidden gem. Let googlemap lead the way, because the only place you should be lost is in their eyes. #ay
What could be improved: 1. This is more of a premium bakmi. Yes it's pricier but you get more compared to your average bakmi. Plus, you get to enjoy the nice ambience. Worth your money if you value great food and great ambience. 2. Honestly I wish they served simple ice tea. No sugar. No vanilla. No weird things. Simple ice tea in the menu would be nice. Sometimes there is beauty in the simplest things.
Why you will love it: 1. The sambal jebleh/sambel dower is the real reason we come back. It's crazy spicy but that's really the appeal. They use bird eye's chilli/cabe rawit with the right amount of garlic. You only need one tablespoon, that's enough to burn your tongue (in the best way possible). 2. The food is good, but the taste is plain and really anywhere else is going to taste similar. Again, you come back because of the sambal not their fried food. -Ayam bakar: but I asked it to be fried, because I like the hint of sweetness -Sate udang: quite large size and quite fresh -Sate ati: not my favourite, I prefer it to be crispier and more flavourful -Bakwan jagung: nice companion for your main dish, but I prefer my bakwan a tad bit sweeter -Oncom: this one is special, get this. They have balanced the taste of oncom to perfection. Order this. -Urap: generous coconut and really rich taste. Definitely get this. 3. For a warung this is quite clean and since it's semi-outdoor you feel safer during these crazy times.
What could be improved: Just a tip, this place can be super full - a testament to how good it is. Comfort food type of good. So go earlier and avoid lunch peak hours.
Menu: Ayam bakar but fried (20K): 7.8/10 Udang goreng (20K): 7.8/10 Sate ati goreng (15K): 7.0/10 Bakwan jagung goreng (6K): 7.2/10 Oncom (7K): 8.3/10 Urap (7K): 8.3/10 Sambel jebleh (free): 8.5/10 Es jeruk (10K): 8.0/10
Place: Warung Nasi Urang Sunda, Serpong
Menu yang dipesan: Ayam Bakar, Udang Goreng, Sate ati goreng, Bakwan Jagung, Oncom, Urap, Sambel jebleh
APPLE LYCHEE TEA AND PASSION FRUIT GREEN TEA = RECOMMENDED!
Why you will love it: 1. The freshness of the drinks - I think this is an underrated boba place, this is what we ordered: -Apple lychee tea: fragrant, all the flavours are balanced. Makes sense why this is a favourite. -Passion fruit green tea: fragrant, but the passion fruit overpowers the green tea a bit. We don't mind because the taste of passion fruit is lovely. -Americano: nice coffee if you want a non-tea non-sweet drink here but there's nothing particularly special about it. Then again, this is a boba place! 2. The employee is kind and explain the drinks and promotions patiently and clearly. Do ask the special drinks and promos! 3. The interior is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and you can enjoy the drink while seeing the fish pond and people walking by listening to your favourite playlist thinking you are the main character.
What could be improved: They only have two branches, GI and The Breeze. But I think it's way more important to have good quality control than expanding too quickly.
Menu: Apple lychee tea (20K): 8.0/10 Passion fruit green tea (20K): 8.0/10 Americano (18K): 7.0/10
Place: Moji, The Breeze
Menu yang dipesan: Apple lychee tea, passion fruit green tea, Americano
Why you will love it: 1. Their food! Also their Thai Tea is the best I've ever had in Indonesia. Consistent. Same as the one I've had in Thailand. Here's what I had: -Thai Tea: I cannot emphasize this enough. Get their Thai Tea. It's the best Thai Tea in town. You won't regret getting it. Tastes quite strong but all the elements are well balanced. I once visited just for the tea because when you miss someone, you don't say I miss you too. You say, so when can we meet? That is exactly how I feel about Iced Thai Tea. -Pad Thai Shrimp: This is a sweeter type of Pad Thai, but balanced out with the sourness from tamarind. So if you like your pad thai more savoury than sweet, ask them to reduce the sweetness a bit. Also, great pad thai texture. -Mango Salad: This oneeee. Reminds me so much of Thailand. The sauce, they do it well. As I write this, I kind of regret writing this because now I just crave it even more and I need to go back for this Mango Salad. Balanced sweetness and sourness. The mango is not too sour but just enough so it's very refreshing. -Pad Kee Mao: There is only a very slight hint of basil. It tastes good, but it's not something you have to get. Not my cup of tea. However, they are very generous with the chicken here. So if you like lots of protein on your noodles this might be for you. 2. Great service. They are kind and attentive. And in the end when you pay, they ask what could be improved. That is so nice because that means they value your feedback. 3. Lots of parking space, so this will not be a problem.
What could be improved: They only have one branch in Alam Sutera, so if you're in the area and you want Thai food, go here.
Menu: Iced Thai Tea: 9.6/10 Pad Thai Shrimp: 8.3/10 Mango Salad: 8.7/10 Pad Kee Mao: 6.8/10
Place: Bolan Thai Street Kitchen, Alam Sutera
Menu yang dipesan: thai tea, Pad Thai, Mango Salad, Pad Kee Mao
Why you will love it: 1. Portion is quite generous for the price and the ribs are huge. Ribs have a balanced meat and fat ratio (I prefer my ribs with minimum fat but I was still able to enjoy it!). 2. Original barbeque sauce somehow reminds me a bit of Kemang Steak (Remember that steak?). It's not so unique that you must absolutely come back but it's a sauce that brings you a certain kind of comfort. Sometimes food that feels comforting>food that tastes out of this world good. 3. Relatively fast service and for a street vendor the place is quite clean so you can enjoy the ambience of the busy streets of Gandaria.
What could be improved: 1. I just prefer my ribs without fat, but this comes back to preference. With that price, the quality of ribs is actually a very good deal. Even better if you prefer your ribs with more fat. 2. Parking might be challenging if the place is packed (when I went there, it wasn't) but don't worry abang parkir is there to help you. Unlike the abang parkir gabut type, he really showed initiative and helped. 3. Also, I wish there was soda. Soda and ribs are like a match made in heaven. Swipe right for soda with ribs, always.
Menu: Iga panggang Panglima original bbq sauce (99K): 7.5/10
Menu yang dipesan: Iga panggang Panglima original bbq sauce
Why you will love it: 1. The overall food flavour, here's what we had: -Curry Laksa Greatttt. The bowl is generously filled with tofu, beansprouts, fishcake, chicken and even clams. The broth is beautifully balanced, savoury and sweet and just the right richness so as not to overpower other ingredients. If this curry laksa were a boyband, all the ingredients shine through. No one is there just for the sake being there. -Sambal Cumi Shout out also to the Sambal Cumi. It's nice that we can order a portion of only sambal cumi (3pcs of squid). Because one is not enough. The sauce is just spicy enough to keep you coming back for more. But not to the point of numbing or hurting you. Squid is nicely cooked. Also comes with little anchovies that is a nice addition to the flavour of the dish. -ABC Portion is super generous. Order with a friend or that special someone. Seriously, that's a lot for dessert! Good thing is, it actually is good. -Spicy Chicken PappaJack They weren't kidding when they said it's spicy. Do request them to town down the spiciness a bit because personally while we enjoy spicy food, the spiciness was overpowering. Was it good though? Absolutely. The leek gave that additional layer of freshness flavour profile and chicken was crispy. Next time will go for the Ayam Kluyuk though this is a tad bit too spicy for our taste. -Teh Tarik Ice If you go to PappaJack and don't order their Teh Tarik, it's like "healing in Bali" and not going to the beach. Teh tarik has a nice strong flavour which again, is balanced with the right amount of sweetness. Kind of like your favourite person's smile. 2. Super attentive and kind service. The team was patient and gave clear explanation if you want to ask more about the menu. 3. Plenty of seats.
What could be improved: I am also a big fan of their nasi lemak. But I think their nasi lemak protein to rice ratio could be improved. So I wish that their other menus (Spicy Chicken, Ayam Kluyuk) are available separately without rice.
Menu: Curry Laksa (52K): 9.2/10 Sambal Cumi (42K): 8.8/10 ABC (33K): 7.8/10 Spicy Chicken Pappajack (63K): 8.0/10 Teh Tarik Ice (28K): 9.1/10 Place: PappaJack Asian Cuisine, Kemang Village
