Why you will love it ❤
1. The first thing you notice is how homey it feels. The ambience feels very laid back to sit and chill to have long conversations which was fitting because I attended an alumni reconnecting gathering hence why the food was served prasmanan style.
2. They partner with small-scale producers across Indonesia for the main ingredients to maintain taste and authenticity. So you are not just eating well-cooked food, but also the ingredients showcase genuine heritage of Indonesian flavours.
3. Friendly and attentive service.
4. Love the sambal terasi. This is what made the whole experience special. Not on the crazy spicy side which I prefer. Elevates the whole experience and does not try to numb your tongue.
5. Tahu Gejrot has a nice balanced taste. Not too spicy. Not too sweet. Just the right flavours bursting in your mouth.
6. The batagor sambal kacang was served in small soupn spoons, which was a treat to enjoy. The peanut sauce (from cashews) complimented the star.
7. Gurame Bumbu Kencur has a nice flavour, with bumbu kuning. Reminds me of an elevated version of mom's cooking.
8. Empal Gepuk was not the best I had, but it does go extremely well with the sambal so yes, match made in sambal heaven.
9. Great that they have a whole private space for group dining, so you do not disturb other guests and the group can mingle together in one whole area.

What could be improved 🙏
1. Sayur Asem needs improvement. It was more on the bland side. Not sweet. Not sour. Not salty. Not my kind of Sayur Asem.
2. The fish in Gurame Bumbu Kencur was a tad too hard - wish they cooked the fish better next time I visit! It's unfortunate because the food tastes good :)
3. Lapis Jadul Selai Nanas Madu looks super appetizing, but in terms of taste honestly did not detect any difference with other lapis.
4. Pricey, compared to the taste I believe this is on the pricey end and not worth the price. However, if you are looking for a high end restaurant and consider that they partner with small-scale producers the experience becomes worth it. You are not just buying a plate of food, but the authenticity of the Indonesian taste, ingredients, well-executed interior design as well as friendly and attentive staff.
