Union Brasserie, Bakery & Bar Visit

I really wanted to go to Union since forever. I often go to theirs' store in Grand Indonesia and ate theirs' cakes but never went to Plaza Senayan outlet to try theirs' menu. This place is really unique. It designed like a greenhouse. It's located beside Plaza Senayan's Mall. The interior was clean and neat with white cloth over theirs' wooden table. The chair was wooden furnished which makes this place really nice.
Red Velvet Cheese Cake and Red Velvet Pie - Rp 55,000 and Rp 50,000 This two are definitely in my top 5 favorite cake I ever tasted. The red velvet pie was so good. I prefer theirs' red velvet pie over red velvet cheese cake because there are more cream cheese and because of the thick red velvet crust. It's basically Union's signature red velvet cake in pie form. The crust was so crunchy and holds the cake in shape really well. Topped with my favorite EVER sweet peanut crumbs makes this cake is definitely worth a try!
Red Velvet Cheese Cake - Rp 55,000 If you ever tasted Union's red velvet cake and you like cheese cake, then this will be your next cake crush of the year. The cake was so moist and soft. But I feel like when I ordered a full cake the taste was a little bit better somehow. But anyway the difference isn't that significant between sliced cake and full cake. The wise way to eat this is to eat both part at once so you can taste hint of saltiness from the cheese cake and hint of bitterness from the red velvet and sweetness from both of the cake. This cake smelled so good that makes you wanna have another plate.
Escargots, Garlic Butter - Rp 105,000 I was never interested in ordering escargots every time I went to a restaurant. But, after I tasted this, it changed my mind. The escargot was so soft and buttery in my mouth. It didn't tasted like what I think escargots will be taste like and the best part,it didn't smelled at all. Accompanied by crunchy garlic, it makes a perfect combo! Small tips from me, save your free bread from the beginning of your order and dip it into the garlic butter, it's the BOMB!
Pork Crackling & Bacon Lardons, Spaghetti, Alba Truffle Cream - Rp 105,000 Curious about the hype of this pork themed spaghetti so I gotta try one. The spaghetti was cooked perfectly. The truffle cream was perfect and not overpowering my palette and the bacon was tender yet juicy. The pork crackling was nice but sadly not my favorite. It was good but I expected more because of the hype. But it is still worth to try because this dish was such a creamy dish.
Roasted Mushrooms, Spaghetti, White Truffle Cream (V) - Rp 95,000. This dish tasted quite the same with the pork spaghetti. It is creamy and yummy. Honestly I can't choose which one is better. I gave both of the dish 8,5/10 each. They gave generous amount of mushrooms. The mushrooms was pleasant and delightful.
Fennel-Crusted Pork Belly, Crispy Pork Rinds, Pomme Puree, Honey Mustard Vinaigrette - Rp 160,000 This is probably my favorite dish from my visit. The pork belly was sooo tender! It was very pleasant to eat. With the combination of the puree and honey mustard vinaigrette the dish tasted very good! The mustard was not too sour with the combination of honey it's such a perfect match with the pork belly. Because of the apple I can tasted the sweet taste from it in the pork belly. This dish is definitely a must order
Wagyu Jajangmyeon w/ Beef Rinds & King Oyster Mushrooms - Rp 135,000 I hesitated to ordered this menu at first so I ordered this menu after half of my order came out because I'm curious how's the taste of the traditional Korean menu with a bit of twisted because they added some "unusual" component to this traditional menu. It turns out quite good but not my favorite. The noodle was not a good match with this menu, it was to thick. The black bean sauce was too little than the usual black bean noodle I ordered in some Korean restaurant. The mushroom was good and surprisingly the kimchi tasted decent.
I actually ordered Truffle Fries (Rp 40,000) and Nasi Goreng (I forgot the price) but the food was across the table so I cannot take a proper picture of it.
The truffle fries smelled amazingly good. The fries was crispy and thin but soft inside, with grated cheese on top makes a perfect sides for lunch or dinner.
The Nasi Goreng was so good. The rice was not too dry and not too wet either. The spices of the Nasi Goreng was perfect, it was salty and a hint of spicy also. Overall it is my favorite dish after the pork belly.
