I am quite familiar with Ngo Hiong that my relatives often bring from Pontianak, Kal-Bar, but not so with Ngo Hiong from Bogor. Someone just returned from Bogor bringing this Ngo Hiong home and we immediately fried it along with tofu and potato. Don't forget as well the sauce, which I don't know what that is actually.
One may think that the Ngo Hiong doesn't smell that good, but once you dip it in the gravy and put it in your mouth, it'll give you that unique melange of sweet and savory taste from the sauce and ngo hiong respectively. Well, comparing this one with Pontianak Ngo Hiong, I'd say this one has decent taste though not as good as the one I usually eat.
But after all, this adds to your alternatives of what to bring home from Bogor while hunting for food there.
Every time someone goes to Bogor, Roti Unyil is never out of the list to bring back to Jakarta. Anyone would surely crave for its special one-bite bread, be it sweet or savory. The amount of chocolate and cheese stuffed in each bread is never disappointing. Other variants with sausage or baso are also many people's favorite. However, one may find the current price rather expensive: 1.500 for one small bread.
Well, going to Bogor once a while, it's still worth the money you spend for one of Bogor's legendary comfort food, isn't it?
