Last Sunday I went to Setiabudi One to had a lunch at The Grand Duck King. Every Sunday this branch holds a special promo all you can eat dim sum with only IDR 88k++.
It was quite full of visitors that I had to wait for about 20 minutes. Basically the Grand Duck King in Setiabudi One didn’t have small table for two, so I just dined at a table of four.
The waitress gave me the dim sum menu book, some of the menus were not included in the ayce package.
1. Chicken & Prawn Seiw Mai
: it’s one of the most common dim sum that we found at random dim sum restaurant and stall. However, the size is a bit different because this one came in a quite big bite. It tasted good, of course, delicious with a whole prawn inside rather than minced prawn meat.
2. Hakau
: basically hakau is a dumplings filled with prawn. It’s easy to say I like it because it was tasty, eventho there wasn’t special difference between this one and hakau in other resto.
3. Siew Long Pao
: siew long pao was more rare than siew mai and hakau. If the resto didn’t specialized in dim sum, they generally wouldn’t sell it. This dumpling is filled with crab meat, prawn, and crab broth. Before you eat the whole siew long pao, make sure to squeze a bit on the dumpling to extract the broth so you can taste the broth first. Grand Duck King’s Siew Long Pao is SUPERB!
4. Szechuan Wonton
: the wonton was filled with prawn and served in seaweed soup and spicy soup. The spicy soup was more like sauce, you can add it if you want to add flavor. I think the seaweed soup was a bit savorless but if you add the spicy soup, it would be perfect. The wonton itself is tasty like the other dumplings.
5. Shrimp and chicken spring roll in tofu skin
: this fried menu was not very special but again they put a heap of prawn meat inside and it made me more than satisified :)
6. Shrimp Fried Dumpling
: it’s another fried menu with prawn filling, served with mayonaise sauce. Truthfully speaking this one fitted perfectly with the mayo. Which was GREAT.
7. Salmon Spring Roll
: the slim and long spring roll filled with salmon and prawn inside. This one was the only food that tasted so-so. I didn’t know why it didn’t hit my tastebud so well…And it served with wassabi-mayo sauce that wasn’t spicy, but the smell of wassabi was too salient.
8. Chicken feet with black pepper sauce
: I like the black pepper sauce, it made the chicken feet tasty. Eventho it was troublesome to eat chicken feet, but it worth the try.
9. Egg Tart
: this was the only dessert that could fit my tummy since it was already full with the dimsum hahaha. The egg on the middle of it was so soft and the sweetness was perfect.
Overall I was very satisified with the taste of Grand Duck King’s dim sum. Especially with this kind of promo, I consider it was pocket friendly for both quality and quantity dim sum. Oh for additional info, note in mind that this package didn’t include drinks, so you gotta order another one.
The service might be needed some improvement, since the waiters were mostly not friendly. However they moved fast and attentive to the customer so you won’t be needing to communicate with them much. They already knew what to do and decided what you need. So if you need to fill your Sunday with some goodies, come to the Grand Duck King Setiabudi One.
