4.2Butterman [ Thamrin, Toko Roti,Kafe ]
Butterman GI
Butterman’s croissants are one of my favourites in Bali and based on my visits here, the quality remains consistent across the branches. So far everything has been above average so it’s definitely becoming one of my go to pastries brand. Croissant dough was flaky, buttery, and crispy even when they don’t reheat the croissant.

Framboisine (70k) 8.5/10
If you’ve tried Butterman’s pistachio roll, than you know that the raspberry flavour is much more dominant compared to the pistachio cream. This is for those that like more pronounced pistachio component. The pistachio butter cream and hazelnut dacquoise are pretty much at the forefront, with raspberry giving it a slight hint of tartness. An unexpected but welcome finding from Butterman.
Almond Croissant (40k) 8/10
Pretty much my go to pastry order. Love how rich and creamy the frangipane is. The almond slices on top added nice crunch and additional sweetness as well.
Ham Cheese Allumette (58k) 8/10
Never been a savoury gal but this one exceeded my expectation. Very rich and gurih in flavour without being too overwhelming.
Black Truffle Eggy Jar (55k) 7/10
Like eating more liquified form of creamed spinach. The yolk made it super rich. Really good sourdough as well but got too creamy by the end.Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.1 pembaca berterima kasih.

3.6Yakiniku Esina Garden [ Senayan, Jepang ]

Was confused about what to order so I just went with both sets available. Overall I think the meat selections for Sanshu-Dai were better suited for my preferences. Each set came with salad, rice, japchae, kimchi, soup, and dessert.

Sanshu-Danmi Course (518k) 8/10
In this set, you got 3 types of meat: Jo Tanshio, Bolar Blade, and Jo Karubi. Overall much prefer meat quality for this set. Favourite would be the Jo Tanshio, really great tongue which can be difficult to find in Jakarta.
Yakiniku Zanmai (445k) 6/10
Strictly speaking you get better value for your bang on this set since you get 4 meats: Negi Tanshio, Karubi, Harami, and Tsubizuke Karubi. However I found most of them to be either too thin, too chewy, or too fatty.
Hotate (207k) 7.5/10
A random add on that turned out pretty good. Scallops were really plump and juicy.Harga per orang: > Rp. 200.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.

4.0Mo Wine Bar [ Menteng, Lounge ]
MO Wine Bar
Loving the concept of natural wine bar🍷. Vibe was similar to Mosto Bali (which I really liked as well). Foods were decent-good, mostly could benefit from additional salt, and desserts were excellent. Will be back to try their other dishes (and wine ofc)

Drommekage (90k) 9/10
Reminds me of a wetter, deconstructed version of french toast. Creamy from the ice cream, tangy from the berries, and sweet from the muscovado syrup. Favourite of the night. Weirdly enough I prefer this over their actual baklava french toast?
Chocolate Terrine (90k) 8.5/10
Definitely the heavier dessert vs the drommekage. That said, I personally love how fudgy and chocolatey it was (almost like fudgy bro brownies on steroids). Get this if you are a chocolate lover.
White Bean Hummus (80k) 7.5/10
Texture wise one of the smoothest hummus I’ve tried in Jakarta. Very generous with the evoo as well. Lacking in flavour though so we added some salt. The complimentary sourdough was nicely toasted and chewy with good amount of tang.
Gnocchi Sardinia (180k) 7.5/10
Despite being so creamy surprisingly not overwhelmingly heavy. Probably due to the gorgonzola and smoked brisket. Bone marrow added nice umaminess as well.
Buratta (160k) 6.5/10
Buratta was not as fresh as I would have liked. It was quite firm and cold. Gremolata was refreshing though.
Whole Sole Fish (210k) 6.5/10
Without a doubt the most value of money item in the menu. You get an entire fish for only 200ish. Felt like there’s ‘bau tanah’ from the fish though? Relish was smokey and refreshing, pretty helpful in dispersing the fish smell.
Hand Cut Chips (50k) 5/10
Standard fries texture. Lacking seasonings so we asked for salt and pepper.Harga per orang: > Rp. 200.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.

4.0Braud [ Senopati, Kafe ]
Braud Jakarta
Brunch was lovely but croissants were not as good as Bali. Dirty chai latte and hot chocolate were also too milky. I think they are still fine tuning their equipments so will probably return once everything is more settled. I am curious about their pm menu (looks like they have nat wine) as well.

Monte Cristo Black Mayu (115k) 8.5/10
Best dish out of everything. Nothing like the usual monte cristo, this one is way more savoury from the corned beef pastrami and cheese. The most unique component was def the black garlic flavour, umami and mildly sweet at the same time.
Manchego Baked Eggs (120k) plus Lamb Merguez (60k) 7.5/10
Nice creamy scrambled texture, slightly lacking in salt but the sausage gave it that extra flavour boost. The sourdough (love their bread as usual) and diced potato made it very fulfilling.
Frenchie (95k) 6.5/10
French toast made with leftover sourdough and served with ricotta, tomato, honeycomb, and pesto dip. More of a cold dish so not something I gravitate towards in the morning. Taste wise it’s the lightest, I personally would have liked more sweetness in my french toast.
Croissants: Plain (28k), Pain au Chocolate (35k), and Almond (42k) 5/10
Braud’s hazelnut croissant is a particular favourite of mine so imagine the disappointment when the Jkt versions ended up being so different to the Bali one. Texture was not flaky at all and they all went ‘melempem’ when you cut/bite through them. The best one was the almond since it was twice baked and hence slightly more crunchy.Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.

3.4Fragments [ Thamrin, Toko Kue ]
Korean Desserts
Desserts tasted good but am personally disturbed seeing the server returned my scone (which had slipped unto the table when she delivered the item) back into the display case as if nothing had happened🥲. Fingers crossed that the owner will ensure stricter procedures moving forward. Because of this hygiene issue I am somewhat hesitant to return even though I like their stuffs.

Cheesecake (55k) 7.5/10
Becoming my third favourite cheesecake right after animale and emilia. Love the melty, molten center. Would have loved for the cheesecake to have stronger, more pungent cheese flavour, however I think this is more crowd pleaser vs the other two I mentioned as there’s no blue cheese mixture.
Garlic Butter Scone (33k) 8/10
Not usually a fan of savoury scone but decided to try after seeing good reviews from ig. Super garlicky 🥰🥰🥰 and the caramelised sugar on top gave it a nice contrast against the garlic. Texture wise, it’s more of a biscuit vs proper English scone. Would have rated it higher if the outer was not as crunchy. It made it very difficult to eat the scone.
Scone Cream (10k) 9/10
Highly recommend you get this cream when you order their scones as it really elevated everything. Very light but velvety at the same time. It’s both sweet and savoury at the same time, a perfect companion to the scone.Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.1 pembaca berterima kasih.

2.6Andnic [ Pantai Indah Kapuk, Toko Roti ]
Viral Scoop Babka
The scoop babkas were definitely not worth the hype for me. Unsure if I was unlucky since both versions I tried didn’t have any fillings inside (vs other people’s). For now, I’ll stick to their bread offerings (babka, sourdough, and ciabatta). Coffee’s pretty good though.

Jasuke (60k) and Raspberry Pistachio (65k) 3.5/10
Look I would give credit that the top 1/3 of the breads were good. Both jasuke and pistachio creme were quite generous and flavourful. The problem is that the bread underneath had nothing at all (unlike traditional babka) while being really difficult to eat. They were so dense and dry I could not even finish either. I’ll stick to their actual babka loaves.
Dirty Chocolate (45k) 7.5/10
The kind of croissant that will make a mess (in a good way). Overflowing with fillings and drenched in milk chocolate with cocoa powder on top, this tasted so chocolaty while still being light and not enegin. Best thing I tried on this visit.
Hazelnut (46k) 4/10
The croissant’s really flaky if not that buttery. That said, I was disappointed with how bland the filling was. I swear they must have forgotten to put sugar in the hazelnut frangipane. Could not finish this as well.Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.

Small Gelato (60k + 10k for premium flavour) 7.5/10
Got the pistachio (extra 10k charge) and kiamboi shorbet. I’ll be honest that I was not expecting much from this place. Kiamboi shorbet proved me wrong though. It was tangy and refreshing without being icy. Pistachio was decent-good, still prefer Omaelly or Venchi though. Texture wise I like how creamy and thick they are.Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.

4.0Piquant [ Menteng, Barat ]
European Fine Dining
Continuing on my previous post about Chicory, did you know they also have a fine dining restaurant called Piquant at the back? Portions are in line with the concept but surprisingly filling (perhaps because most dishes are on the creamy and decadent end?). Would recommend for those craving European cuisine. P.S welcome bread is the same ciabatta they serve with the omelette and it was delish

Barramundi(320k) 8.5/10
Roasted leek, asparagus, black trumpets, potato, and mushroom milk. I love fish but find that they can be tricky to prepare well. This unexpectedly was my favourite dish that day. Very light yet buttery, nicely paired with the mushroom sauce.
Braised Organic Beef Cheek and Leek (330k) 8/10
Liquorice sauce was yummy and pomme puree was very smooth and creamy. Highlight was how tender the beef cheek was, melts like butter inside your mouth.
Christmas Pudding (165k) 7.5/10
Not a fan of dried fruit in dessert overall, however we couldn’t not order this for Christmas meet up right? Almond cherry ice cream was really tasty, you could also really taste the brandy in the cream. Not something I would crave often, however very appropriate for the festive season.
Onion and Thyme Tart (180k) 7.5/10
Liver parfait, wild arugula, asparagus, and mustard air. Very bold foie gras flavour with buttery tart😋. Love this appetizer but could be polarizing for some palette.
Valrhona Chocolate Pave (185k) 6.5/10
Very fudgy chocolate dessert served with berries and almond ice cream to give the dish added complexity. Good but pretty standard dessert you could find elsewhere.
Slow Cooked Organic Berkshire Pork Jowl (340k) 5/10
Way too much fat for me (like 70% fat 30% meat). My friend who ordered the dish loved this so it depends on preference.
Best part for me was the raisin chutney and parsnip puree.Harga per orang: > Rp. 200.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.

Trying the newest Cinnabon variant. Overall I did really like it. Quite a bit sweeter vs the original due to the caramel, but I enjoyed the pecan crunch. Vanilla Citron (47k) 8.5/10
Favourite tart in Chicory. You could really taste the vanilla bean and it’s perfectly balanced with the zestiness of the lemon curd. For some reason the crust in this one was way crunchier and more buttery than the fruits based ones.
Omelette (155k) 8/10
Served with your choice of cheese (I picked brie). Really well made omelette, soft and fluffy without bring too runny, and top notch ciabatta as well. The cheese adds nice accent to the dish particularly after it melts.
French Toast (160k) 8/10
Priciest french toast I’ve tried here hahaha🙃. That said, I really liked the unique combination of fruits (pitaya and papaya) over your usual berries. Interior was perfectly custardy, which is my preferred for french toast. Value wise, you can get great french toast at other places (e.g. Levant and Beau).
Almond Croissant (42k) 8/10
Perfectly crispy, flaky, and buttery. Chicory and Levant have been my go to for croissants in Jakarta (not including the recent influx of Bali brands opening here Lol). Not the most generous in terms of filling, however in this case this was actually a good thing since the almond frangipane was quite sweet.
Carrot Cake (60k) 7.5/10
Personally my favourite cake in Jakarta. Imo this is better than Union’s. Keep in mind that I don’t like my carrot cake filled with nuts so the sparse mix in is actually a plus for me. Very fragrant with spices and not too sweet, also they give the right amount of cream cheese, not too much but not too little.
Wildberry Tart (60k) 7/10
More sour vs the pear but not as much as the vanilla citron. Good solid option for most people I reckon, simple berry combination but perfectly balanced with sweet-sour taste. Crust wise unfortunately this one was pretty soggy and not buttery enough. It tasted kind if bland.
Coffee Profiterole (25k) 7/10
Very strong dominant coffee flavour. It’s good but not to the extent that I’m craving this again. Mom’s a fan though. Will recommend eating this cold.
Pear and Blueberry (60k) 6/10
My ratings went down for this one since for some reason there was barely any blueberry in the tart (they used to be more generous). The parts where you get both fruits are still the best part, but the pear section is not too bad either, mildly sweet and not too eneg. Crust wise, unfortunately the same as the pear and blueberry one.
Cocoa 70% with Almond (52k) 6/10
Pretty good hot chocolate but probably won’t repurchase. Couldn’t taste the almond and it’s not as thick as I would have liked.
64% Cocoa with Earl Grey (50k) 5/10
Prefer the 70% since this one is ‘nanggung’ like both the chocolate and earl grey flavours were both too mild.
Passionfruit Creme Pistachio (57k) 5/10
Not a fan of mousse so I still prefer their other goods. This was well made and mousse was incredibly light, however the ratio was off for me. Imo there was not enough pistachio cake and biscuit. As a result, the sourness of the passionfruit was quite overwhelming for me.
Chicken Pie (90k) 3/10
The only fail I’ve had here so far. Skip. Bland, soggy pie. Portion is massive but there’s really no flavour.Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000Makasih Infonya!Kamu belum login, klik di sini.
