Neighbour Dishes
Malaysia, guess all you know this neighbour country. This time i'd like to tell about the dishes, not the country :-D. Malaysia as been famous with Melayu culture and culinary as well. As similar with our lovely country, they have quiet same type of dishes start by ingredients and seasoning. But of course, it has their own flavor. Nowadays in town, it has been opening alot overseas cuisines restaurant around the malls.
About Malaysia dishes, we got Penang Bistro in here. This is not new restaurant, i have been here for couple of times. Penang Bistro last i visited in this store is at Central Park Mall. Thsi restaurant has nice place and ambience. As the name, we know Penang is one of territory in Malaysia. I never been there, what i heard we could find many culinary spot there.
In Penang Bistro, we could order variant of Malaysia dishes start from nasi lemak, noodles, chennai bread, curry, and dessert as well. This restaurant have quiet big space, and variant spot of tables. I choose right face to the window, it's lunch time wheh sun bright, i could look at the city busy view. i start my order by appetizer, Kerabu Mango Salad then main dishes by penang mee shua, mango chicken & plate of nasi lemak also teh tarik.
Kerabu Ebi Mango, it's authentic Malaysian salad, mango mixed in spicy and seasoning served with rice, but in here it served with dried white noodles.
first look, it only white color of noodles. and bunch of ebi on the middle, but when i mixed it deeply, it's whole with mango in seasoning sauce. It is taste spicy, sour, nicely blended with the noodles. It's cost Rp 32,000.- Then just straight to main course, Mango chicken. This time i ate alot mango
It's beautifully fried boneless chiken poured by slices of mango and onions. Chicken really crunchy, nice seasoning sauce and mango is in good sour, perfect with the chicken. it is Rp 63,000.- and last dish is Penang Mee Shua.
it is good texture of mee shua, mixed with variant ingredients like eggs, shrimp, vegetables and slices of fish cakes, but under little seasoning i think. more salt should do i guess. this cost for Rp 51,000.- All over foods here not really cost alot. foods are good, service just fine, spot and ambience is nice. for having lunch or dinner with family in here should be good.Menu yang dipesan: Kerabu Ebi Mangga, Penang Mee Shua, Mango Chicken

Typical Betawi
This restaurant is really crowded during weekend. Not a huge place with tabes close each others. But i love their food though, Nasi goreng is just fine, not really taste as expected. The Soto Daging has nice flavor, but for some people it might be too plain, what my favorite is the nasi kucing. Even though it is not cheap, but it sure does tasty.

Weekdays in over in July, just normal day after i'd like to go to dinner hunting. This time i would like to tell about new opening Thai restaurant in Central Park mall. It's Thai I Love You". For your information, this restaurant is part of Jitlada Group which i ever mention in my page before.

It has same concept of dishes, Thai foods. But with different concept of restaurant interior and ambience. If i do not mistake, Thai I Love You has been opening about couple of months, mostly quiet crowded when i pass throu there. And exactly night when i went there, i was on second waiting list. Start from front, waitress not really friendly i may say, not even glimpse of smile while greeting customers.
Since i thought about this is new restaurant, maybe staff could be new employees. and as seen many customers that night, i have an assume this restaurant must be have something great to served. It took me only about 10-15 mins to get turn, so i think it is fine. This restaurant has different interior concept than Jitlada. It has Thailand characteristic painting on the wall, crowded and colorful. As normally, it has open kitchen where i can see an old lady could be the chef right there.
So without waste time, i ordered start from Pandan Chicken & Pomelon Salad as the appetizers, then pineapple fried rice & longbeans with shrimp paste, also drink as main in Thailand drink is Thai Ice Tea. Note after ordering, i was saying please serve the appetizers first before main course to the waiter and he said ok. As expected, Pandan Chicken came out first.
It is chicken been fried wrap by pandan leaf, what it taste not really aunthentic pandan, it just taste soft fried chicken. It also has a soy sauce, not an awesome but it is fine. next second appetizer should have be pomelon salad, but what they did is waiter served it along with the longbeans. What my point here not complaining about the foods, but it's about how warmly you are giving service to customers, i am sure i did ask to put out the appetizers for first. For restaurant at mall, i think this is normal procedure during full set menu serve.
As usual Thai dish, Pomelon Salad has sweet and sour taste. squeezed pomelon mixed with fried garlic, onions, seasonings. What i feel, pomelon is not fresh enough, good thing it is blended in seasoning.
After finished appetizer, still one menu left. Pineapple fried rice which it not come out yet. Until i asked the waiter, and took about 10 mins, it's just ready on my table. note: each waiters/ waitress comes to table are different. Pineapple fried rice in mini cute pineapple, completed with 4 of cashew and one shrimp.
once again, it's not awesome. underseasoning is the problem. I believed it should be much better than dish what i taste before.
I am not saying about judgment here, but what it taste is real. comparison of foods is normally what i been doing, having same dishes in different place is what i used to be. even though each restaurant has their own flavors, but this pineapple rice could be not my choice. I am sure Jitlada has better taste. And last dish i had is a longbeans with shrimp paste, it taste really spicy, have a good smell of ebi and longbeans really deeply blended with it paste. What a sad is about the longbeans texture and color looks overcooked, dark color and not crunchy.
All over foods could be under average especially pomelon salad, what it taste, you should have try it to know. one i can recommended is Longbeans, it has nice shrimp paste, spicy and tasty. For price, it's quiet same with Jitlada which is middle to up. i am much recommended Jitlada than this, much Thai taste i could feels at there.

All About Eggs
Tuesday, at least it's better than monday. Afterwork done, i had been to the Grand Indonesia, one of my fav spot in town. Actually, i went there to look present for my cousin b'day. Just took a hour i found it and surely i need to get my dinner. I decided to go to Benedict, it is a quiet new open restaurant about couple months if i do not mistake.
During dinner time, it was very crowded until one table left. Each tables are very close since they try to separated each tables so it would become more space for customers. So won't wait longer, i just took that seat where a peoples at my right and left but i don't mind, i was just so starved. From it concept, Benedict has quiet similar ambience with Union which is they are related group. Benedict is servings European dishes with some variant of menu types.
I ordered a starter by Scotch Eggs
a soft boiled eggs, enclosed in chicken hamburg, katsuobushi and poured with mayo. It is crunchy, tasty, the egg is in good shape and perfectly matched with mayo sauce.
It is cost for Rp 35,000,-. much worthed with the taste. Next to first main course, Chicken Pull Benedict.
It is one of special menu that night. Served by soft boiled eggs covered with holandaise sauce on toast completed with chopped seasoned chicken and bunch of avocado wih sauteed potato and grilled watermelon. It's served beautifully, all over this menu set is good, great seasoning, pleasure of eggs but watermelon is kinda weird i think :-). this cost for Rp 85,000.-
Another main i had was Foie Gras Rice. It is a confit duck poured with cryspy garlic, sous-vide egg, and pickled shitake mushroom also teriyaki glaze.
Foie Gras taste good, nice smell as well. mixed good with other ingredients, But with rice and teriyaki glaze, it does turn down luxury impression of foie gras, looks like classic sauteed rice with some ingredients. But don't worry, sure it taste good. For this dish cost Rp 140,000.- is make sense.
Done the dinner, of course drink for finishing i ordered Orange reviver. It is a blended orange, dragon fruit, mint & lime. Sour fresh indeed! for Rp 50,000.- juice in mall restaurant is normal i guess
So basicly, Benedict has offering menu set with egg mostly, in variant type of servings, shape, color, and taste. Place is fine, normal western food concept, dark light ambience. But assure you, they have good foods all over.Menu yang dipesan: Scotch Egg, Foie Gras Rice, Chicken Pull Benedict

Full Of Steaks
Holiday is over, I just had short vacation at hometown and back to capital city. Jakarta. Back in apartment, i realized i have empty fridge here, so i think to have dinner at somewhere. Just though i need go to grocery too, so i decided went to Central Park Mall. Before do grocery, sure i have to take dinner first. was quiet time for me to think about it, after i decided to try new place i never been before. It's called Hog's Breath, what i know this brand is came from Kangaroo origin, Australia.
As the title, Hog's Breath is specialist for Steaks, it has concept classic grilled steaks bar. wooden colors, from chairs & tables, some car plates. Good news, it has a promo that night, by credit card we may buy one get one for Boss Hog size which is the largest steak, it's about 300g. That is huge, you know. Without any starter, so i just ordered for the main dish i.e. Calamari Prime Rib Steak & Blue Cheese Prime Rib Steak.
Calamari Prime Rib Steak. It's full plate served. huge steak, mushroom sauce, bunch of seasoned fried calamari, fried curly fries, and some veggies. In Hog's Breath, all steak are served with medium up level, which is we are not able order any rare level of meat. For me, i found it fine since i prefer medium steak. But for some people, prefer medium rare or probably rare level to have it own taste.
Steak is good, good texture, nice medium color, and exactly right prime rib always has bunch of fat on the middle part. Fried calamari is crunchy, bit over seasoning, quiet sweet actually. Curly fries is good, crunchy as well and veggies been boiled nicely in good color and texture. Another plate is Blue Cheese Prime Rib Steak.
Same huge steak, with squeeze of blue cheese sauce, mashed potato, and some veggies. for this one, steak not really nicely cook as previous one. outside color looks good, inside bit pale and texture kind of tough meat compare first one. cheese sauce taste good, tasty. Mashed potato is have nice texture, but underseasoning. And Veggies cook nicely done, i think they are make sure all veggies served in good way.
In one point, steaks are good, beautiful plating, but i think they are need to keep the consistent of foods. Interior restaurant concept is good, but i just do not feel comfy with alot of bugs that night especially mosquitos flying around the table. Service just fine, when supposed to be waitress should ask what customers prefer for the sauce and sidedishes, i even need to approach here to ask about it since she did not mention anything about it. As we know, Japanese food has became one of famous culinary that we may found in many places in town. Start from Sushi & Sashimi, Ramen, Tendon, and many else. In this chance, i would like to mention about one restaurant Donburi Specialist. it's called Donburi Ichiya, it's Japanese restaurant located at new mall, Lippo Mall Puri. It just opened several months, there's two part of this mall which is different building but connected and i just went there on my first time.
Donburi Ichiya is at LG floor, we should see many restaurants on that floor. Actually, i have been research about this restaurant before i went there. As from food web directory, Donburi Ichiya has quiet nice value, which is why i had to visit there. From outside, it looks like classic Japanese street restaurant. First we are going to take a line to get our order, it's like fast food concept which is you have to pay for the bill before get on to table.
There's two variant of bowl size are regular and mini. I think mini size would not be satisfied enough for my dinner, so i took regular size. Before ordering, we may see the menu at the front. All menus are Donburi with variant meats e.g. chicken, beef, salmon, unagi and also we may choose our sauce like soy honey, ebi mayo, wasabi mayo, garlic butter. Then we have custom topping to choose like tamago, melted cheese, kimchi, japanese curry.
Also there's some sidedishes we could picked, just like Marugame Udon Restaurant concept. Then the last is for the drink, we may have ocha tea as Japanese restaurant commonly. Once order, we may have refilled drink.
Here is Ontama Aburi Salmon. it's beautiful mashed salmon meat cooked well poured with Onsen Tamago on warm rice. It taste sweet, salmon is good, and mixed with soft boiled egg absolutely perfect.
and another menu is Kimchi Gyu Don. It's warm rice with chopped beef, beautiful with Kimchi topping and poured with spicy mayo sauce. Beef really tasty, kimchi is fresh but mayo is not necessary i think. Since, allover food start from rice, beef and kimchi are already has a strong taste which is mayo gave even stronger taste and almost covered up others. But i can say it's still keep up my dinner desire
From foods, is good, very tasty, fresh concept. Restaurant is not huge space, around 20-30 customers, it's Japanese traditional classic theme with wooden wall, lantern light. Service is good, fast. French always sounds wonderful in our ear, as heard beautiful country, culture, and of course tempting foods. Recently i have been to one of famous baker french restaurant. Eric Kayser Artisan Baulager, it is located at Plaza Senayan Mall, 3rd floor. Having spot at the corner not be a problem, this restaurant necessarily need early reservation.
Eric Kayser is famous known as baker from French, even though as a baker, his restaurant has great of French dishes. In this restaurant, they are offering two kind of dine in, we may choose either ala carte or buffet dinner. last week i went there, they got a valuable promo but one get one for buffet dinner. Since it is a good chance, so i've made a reservation for my dinner.
arrived there at 7.00 pm, and i just ready to get on my seat. the place is not huge, maybe around 20-25 seats. At dinner time, it is quiet fulled customers, all waiters are stand by around. One of waitress gave a drinks menu and i ordered Raspberry Ice tea. Then, won't waste time, i started to grab appetizer right on starter part got some dishes like Pumpkin Soup, Salad and Salmon Encroute.
Soup taste sweet, real pumpkin, creamy. it is délicieux indeed. Salmon Encroute is great, nice texture, firm, and salmon is cooked well. Completed with butter tartines is crunchy. Then move to main course, i got Ratatouille, Pilaf Rice, Southern Chicken Leg & Hungarian Beef Goulash.
Authentic French cuisine, Ratatouille, French symbian feelings from it and it is absolutely taste good. Beef really soft texture, nice color and tasty brown sauce. Chiken leg super crunchy dough, has great seasoning. All over foods are good, it has authentic French dishes culture. But as Buffet Dinner, i was expected more menus that they could offering. Or maybe at least, dessert or breads probably. New opening Restaurant in my office building. What a great. Place is having cute wooden concept, bright color, even though in the basement park but it absolutely eye catching looks.

From place, it's normally chinese theme with dark floor, chairs and table, and some red colors theme. i was ordered quiet variant menus start from Pan fried carott cake, taste sweet.
Then i have Steamed Wanton with Chili Oil Sauce, it's tasty, soft wanton and bit spicy. Mie Ayam Gondangdia has been famous around town since long time ago i guess. Classic style noodles spotted at Menteng area. Place not exclusive, it just home style restaurant. I assume the owner is living there as well.
But from the front side, we would see many cars parked around the street, as this place is popular. Noodles is good, authentic home style noodles with chicken, vegetables, and bunch of meatballs.
Actually they also offering many other menu by noodles or rice. But they have been famous by the noodle though, so i just order what it should be
Noddles has chewy texture, not dry is good. I always having the soy sauce and chilli pepper to get more taste. Price not expensive, neither low, well what i can say it is relative. what you pay is what taste you got.Menu yang dipesan: Mie Ayam Gondangdia, Bakso, meatballs
