Umaku Sushi [ Bintaro, Jepang ]

SAKE SUSHI, I WILL ALWAYS COME BACK FOR YOU.

    Biteorbye? Biteeee obviously.

    Why you will love it:
    1. The food here is just excellent, here's what I had (in my visit this time):
-Sake Aburi Sushi: If this sushi were a person, you will make poems and songs about her. She is beauty, she is grace. Perfectly torched salmon, generous portion and teriyaki sauce that blends all the flavour together. I always come back for this. Must-order!
-Crunchy Salmon Roll: They take portion seriously here. The size is generous. Great if you like that extra crunch from panco in your sushi with a bit of sweet sauce (which is just right, not overwhelming). Sort of like if a Salmon Maki and Sake Aburi got married, this would be their kid and they "rebel" a bit by adding panco.
-Chuka Wakame: It's always fresh here. So definitely one of my favourite which I almost always order. Portion is generous too.
-Edamame: Complimentary. They usually give this while you wait for your food. But during my visit, they were fast so this arrived with all the food.
    2. Plenty of parking
    3. They have special priced menus specifically for take out. Check it out.

    What could be improved:0
    1. During peak hours will get busy, so check google and try to go during non-peak hours. FYI they're closed on Mondays, plan your schedule wisely!
    2. You might get confused why there's a chair blocking the entrance. Just click the bell and you will be shown your seat or entered to a waiting list.
    3. They only accept cash or bank transfers. But! I did see an EDC in my last visit, so maybe they accept debit card now?

    Menu:
    Sake Aburi Sushi (43K): 9.5/10
    Crunchy Salmon Roll (59K): 8.0/10
    Chuka Wakame (35K): 9.0/10

    Place:
    Umaku Sushi, Bintaro

Menu yang dipesan: Sake Aburi Sushi, Crunchy Salmon Roll, Chuka Wakame

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

    McDonald's [ Ciputat Timur ]

    ULTIMATE COMFORT FOOD.

    Biteorbye? Bite.

    Why you will love it:
The food in McDonald's is comforting. Is it the best food out there? No. But there is something comforting with every bite of the food here. Sometimes, comfort food brings more pleasure than great food. Especially if you just need a little extra cheering up or even more reason to be happy. The fries are perfection. For me, every meal in McDonald's is a happy meal.

    What could be improved:
Maybe next time I will order the Big Mac sauce separately. Extra sauce was definitely important because the normal portion needed more sauce, but extra sauce might be overwhelming. I wish there was a middle ground.

    Menu (online app):
Big Mac meal, extra sauce (50K): 8.0/10

    Place:
    McDonald's, Ciputat

    Menu yang dipesan: Big Mac

Harga per orang: < Rp. 50.000

    Moji [ BSD, Kafe ]

APPLE LYCHEE TEA AND PASSION FRUIT GREEN TEA = RECOMMENDED!

    Biteorbye? Bite.

    Why you will love it:
    1. The freshness of the drinks - I think this is an underrated boba place, this is what we ordered:
-Apple lychee tea: fragrant, all the flavours are balanced. Makes sense why this is a favourite.
-Passion fruit green tea: fragrant, but the passion fruit overpowers the green tea a bit. We don't mind because the taste of passion fruit is lovely.
-Americano: nice coffee if you want a non-tea non-sweet drink here but there's nothing particularly special about it. Then again, this is a boba place!
    2. The employee is kind and explain the drinks and promotions patiently and clearly. Do ask the special drinks and promos!
    3. The interior is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes and you can enjoy the drink while seeing the fish pond and people walking by listening to your favourite playlist thinking you are the main character.

    What could be improved:
They only have two branches, GI and The Breeze. But I think it's way more important to have good quality control than expanding too quickly.

    Menu:
    Apple lychee tea (20K): 8.0/10
Passion fruit green tea (20K): 8.0/10
    Americano (18K): 7.0/10

    Place:
    Moji, The Breeze

Menu yang dipesan: Apple lychee tea, passion fruit green tea, Americano

Harga per orang: < Rp. 50.000

Warung Nasi Urang Sunda Khas Cianjur [ Serpong, Indonesia ]

BEWARE: THE SAMBEL JEBLEH IS ADDICTIVE.

    Biteorbye? Bite.

    Why you will love it:
    1. The sambal jebleh/sambel dower is the real reason we come back. It's crazy spicy but that's really the appeal. They use bird eye's chilli/cabe rawit with the right amount of garlic. You only need one tablespoon, that's enough to burn your tongue (in the best way possible).
    2. The food is good, but the taste is plain and really anywhere else is going to taste similar. Again, you come back because of the sambal not their fried food.
-Ayam bakar: but I asked it to be fried, because I like the hint of sweetness
-Sate udang: quite large size and quite fresh
-Sate ati: not my favourite, I prefer it to be crispier and more flavourful
-Bakwan jagung: nice companion for your main dish, but I prefer my bakwan a tad bit sweeter
-Oncom: this one is special, get this. They have balanced the taste of oncom to perfection. Order this.
-Urap: generous coconut and really rich taste. Definitely get this.
    3. For a warung this is quite clean and since it's semi-outdoor you feel safer during these crazy times.

    What could be improved:
Just a tip, this place can be super full - a testament to how good it is. Comfort food type of good. So go earlier and avoid lunch peak hours.

    Menu:
Ayam bakar but fried (20K): 7.8/10
    Udang goreng (20K): 7.8/10
    Sate ati goreng (15K): 7.0/10
    Bakwan jagung goreng (6K): 7.2/10
    Oncom (7K): 8.3/10
    Urap (7K): 8.3/10
    Sambel jebleh (free): 8.5/10
    Es jeruk (10K): 8.0/10

    Place:
    Warung Nasi Urang Sunda, Serpong

Menu yang dipesan: Ayam Bakar, Udang Goreng, Sate ati goreng, Bakwan Jagung, Oncom, Urap, Sambel jebleh

Bolan Thai Street Kitchen [ Alam Sutera, Thailand ]

    BEST. THAI. TEA. EVER.

    Biteorbye? Bite.

    Why you will love it:
    1. Their food! Also their Thai Tea is the best I've ever had in Indonesia. Consistent. Same as the one I've had in Thailand. Here's what I had:
-Thai Tea: I cannot emphasize this enough. Get their Thai Tea. It's the best Thai Tea in town. You won't regret getting it. Tastes quite strong but all the elements are well balanced. I once visited just for the tea because when you miss someone, you don't say I miss you too. You say, so when can we meet? That is exactly how I feel about Iced Thai Tea.
-Pad Thai Shrimp: This is a sweeter type of Pad Thai, but balanced out with the sourness from tamarind. So if you like your pad thai more savoury than sweet, ask them to reduce the sweetness a bit. Also, great pad thai texture.
-Mango Salad: This oneeee. Reminds me so much of Thailand. The sauce, they do it well. As I write this, I kind of regret writing this because now I just crave it even more and I need to go back for this Mango Salad. Balanced sweetness and sourness. The mango is not too sour but just enough so it's very refreshing.
-Pad Kee Mao: There is only a very slight hint of basil. It tastes good, but it's not something you have to get. Not my cup of tea. However, they are very generous with the chicken here. So if you like lots of protein on your noodles this might be for you.
    2. Great service. They are kind and attentive. And in the end when you pay, they ask what could be improved. That is so nice because that means they value your feedback.
    3. Lots of parking space, so this will not be a problem.

    What could be improved:
They only have one branch in Alam Sutera, so if you're in the area and you want Thai food, go here.

    Menu:
    Iced Thai Tea: 9.6/10
    Pad Thai Shrimp: 8.3/10
    Mango Salad: 8.7/10
    Pad Kee Mao: 6.8/10

    Place:
Bolan Thai Street Kitchen, Alam Sutera

Menu yang dipesan: thai tea, Pad Thai, Mango Salad, Pad Kee Mao

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

Bubur Ayam C7 [ Ciputat Timur, Indonesia ]

LOOKS SIMPLE, BUT TRUST ME IT'S PACKED IN FLAVOUR!

    Biteorbye? Bite.

Why you will love it ❤
    1. The photo does not do the bubur ayam justice. It looks like a plain boring bubur ayam (I judged it that way) but I am so happy that I am wrong. Finally found a bubur ayam in Cirendeu/Ciputat area that really will make me come back for more. (Note: my order is half portion, I did not add the soy, sambal and krupuk yet!)
    2. Fast service, preparing the order only took a while based on my ojek online.
    3. Great proportion of everything, an important element of bubur ayam. Not too much but not too little.
    4. Lots of branches available.

    What could be improved 🙏
Would be great if the sate had a bolder flavour. With that being said, it's still a good sidedish to accompany your warm bubur ayam.

    Place: Bubur Ayam C7, Cirendeu
    Menu:
Ordered from ojek online, price may differ slightly for dine-in
    Bubur ayam ½ portion 10K (8.9/10)
    Sate ati 3K (6.0/10)

Menu yang dipesan: Bubur ayam setengah porsi, Sate Ati

Harga per orang: < Rp. 50.000

Imperial Kitchen & Dimsum [ BSD, China ]

    GAO ZI, THE BEST!

    Biteorbye? Bite!

Why you will love it ❤
    1. They have good protocol during the Corona period
    2. I always look forward to eat Gao Zi if I come here
    3. They always make the nasi goreng ikan asin right, in every outlet
    4. Reliable taste on every outlet
    5. The combination of kungpao and kailan dua rasa is divine with the nasi goreng
    6. Always love their vast tea selection and how affordable they are

    What could be improved 🙏
    1. More options for vegetables that are more affordable
    2. Most of their dishes quality and taste are consistent in every outlet, but sometimes their Gao Zis are overcooked, would be great if they pay attention to it more
    3. Please serve the chilli oil without us asking, and refill before serving it to us, because they always run out somehow!

Place: Imperial Kitchen, AEON Mall Serpong
    Menu:
    Siew Mai (26.9K): 7.8/10
    Gao Zi (24.9K): 9.1/10

Kembang Bawang [ Alam Sutera, Indonesia ]

THE PERFECT NASI GORENG DOESN'T EXIST... OH WAIT WE'RE WRONG. KEMBANG BAWANG PERFECTS SIMPLE DISH, WE WENT HOME SMILING.

    Biteorbye? Bite.

Why you will love it ❤
    1. Kembang Bawang is the place for you to seek Indonesian comfort food with complex and satisfying taste, every bite will transcend you to Indonesian culinary heaven.
    2. For anyone who is a fan of petai and kecombrang, the restaurant does the two fragrant ingredients justice. Nasi Goreng Cakalang Asap with Kecombrang and Pete made its way to Nadya's heart - every bite is the right combo of perfect rice, fresh ingredients and the right seasoning. As we downed the food, it's like they're doing the perfect choreographed dance inside our mouth - just an indulging experience.
    3. Nisa's favourite dish is the Oseng Cumi Asin. Squid is essentially difficult to cook; they will be very chewy and hard to eat if overcooked. But Kembang Bawang, with years of experience cook the right Indonesian dish, knows its way to make stir fry. This is better eaten with white rice, because if paired with fried rice it would be too salty. The heavy kecombrang use reminds me of a Bali dish. LOVE.
    4. Oseng Ayam Asap Sambal Matah goes through a long process of 1 hour marination, seared to keep the goody-goody chicken juice and smoked for three hours - talk about labor of love! Texture of the chicken is juicy.
    5. The restaurant brands itself to be a humble one, offering humble Indonesian food. We discovered that behind the humility there is also mindfulness of the restaurant - they prioritize restaurant standardization really carefully - they ensure pests, the kitchen to be clean and for the staff to be strictly aware of the right standard of restaurant hygiene. We would like to thank mindful restaurants like this to ensure customers' comfort first about what goes in their mouth and their clean surrounding.
    6. Kembang Bawang's quality control and standard of the restaurant turns out comes from the owner himself, Chef Mario, who had years of experience working in fine-dining restaurants and worked abroad. He hopes to bring the standard and quality even to street food that Indonesians consume. He exhaustively researched the right rice to use for the Nasi Goreng, ensures the right sources of ingredients, everything is basically made in the kitchen - from the smoked chicken, even the cincau is made in the kitchen! So, you're in for a treat if you're in Kembang Bawang: indulge amazing, complex taste in simple dishes, with fine-dining kitchen standards and fresh ingredients.

    What could be improved 🙏
    1. Would be great if they could separate the sugar of Es Selasih Cincau and let the customer pour their preferred level of sweetness on their own. It was too sweet for us when the drink came, but after relishing all the savoury food, it made much more sense drinking it afterwards to balance the savoury. We recommend you request for sugar to be separated.
    2. The sambal matah is a bit on the oily side for me. Eventhough that beautiful flavour is in the oil! But if you do not prefer an oily dish, simply request to the kitchen and ask if would be possible.

    Place: Kembang Bawang, Alam Sutera
    Menu:
Nasi Goreng Cakalang Asap Kecombrang Pete (47k): 9.5/10
Nasi Goreng Sambal Hijau (40k): 8.8/10
Oseng Ayam Asap Sambal Matah (40k): 8.9/10
Oseng Cumi Asin Kecombrang Pete (50k): 9.5/10
    Es Selasih Cincau (13k): 7.5/10

Menu yang dipesan: Nasi Goreng Cakalang Asap Kecombrang Pete, nasi goreng sambal hijau, Oseng Ayam Sambal Matah, Oseng Cumi Asin Kecombrang Pete, Es Selasih Cincau

Harga per orang: < Rp. 50.000

YamMie Hotplate [ Bintaro, Indonesia ]

GREAT SIZZLING EXPERIENCE, NICE TEXTURE OF NOODLES AND GENEROUS MEAT BUT THE SAUCE COULD BE TASTIER.

    Biteorbye? Bite.

Why you will love it ❤
    1. That sizzling hotplate. Always a treat for the eyes and your tastebuds.
    2. Generous portion both in noodles and meat.
    3. Various branches available.
    4. Price is relatively reasonably priced considering the portion.

    What could be improved 🙏
While the noodle texture and and portion of meat is generous, I do wish the sauce was tastier. Lacks a bit of sweetness and salty element. However, since this meal is best enjoyed hot, the sauce taste that is not too strong is not too noticeable. Maybe they did indeed designed it that way.

    Place: Yammie Hotplate, BXC
    Menu:
    Mie ayam panggang (43K): 6.8/10

Menu yang dipesan: mie ayam panggang

Harga per orang: < Rp. 50.000

    Lot 9 [ Bintaro, Kafe ]

A TREAT FOR THE EYES, BUT NOT THE TUMMY 😢

    Biteorbye? Bye.

Why you will love it ❤
    1. The place is great for a conversation and hanging out. From enjoyable outdoor seating to plenty of sofa in the restaurant. If you want to impress a client or go out with that special someone and you are looking for a restaurant in Bintaro area, this is it.
    2. The Sambal Roa that comes with the Bubur Manado is love!!! Not sure if you could get this separately. It has a strong Roa flavour and manages to get that balance between sweet, spicy and savoury just right. The food I ate was a bit disappointing, but the Sambal Roa manages to make me smile.
    2. Lots of interesting drinks.
    3. Various choices for Indonesian food.
    4. Plenty of parking spot.
    5. Nice that they provide non-plastic straw as an effor to go greener, but paper straw is also single-use and disposable. No straw would be a better option.

    What could be improved 🙏
    1. The taste of the food compared to the price was not up to par, I tried several dishes:
-Nasi Goreng Rawon: True to its name, it tastes like rawon. But you would find a bit of difficulty finding the meat in this dish as they were on the stingy side. Small portion but at least they provide plenty of krupuk. The great part about the dish is that it has quite a nice rawon taste but not too strong, really has potential flavourwise but they need to add more meat here!
-Bubur Manado is generous in portion compared to the size, but the taste again is not too strong. It has a potential to be improved, and this type of Bubur Manado is more on the dry side (I am used to the kind of Bubur Manado with flavours that is more bold and generous in broth).
-Oseng Oseng Iga needs major improvement. Major. You know how when you have a crush on someone just judging by the face but then you talk to them and find out you have nothing in common and it was just blah. That, but food. I requested for spicy flavour and even added crushed chilli, the taste was too overwhelmingly sweet. It feels like they add lots and lots of sugar here. They say it’s special sauce, but it looks more like tong seng. It should be named “Tong Seng” instead of “Oseng Oseng Iga” to manage people’s expectation. I like Tong Seng, but I do not this kind of cooking. There should be a warning level that this dish is extremely sweet, even for people who love their savoury food sweet like me.
    2. Serving time is a bit slow, they serve the plate one by one in a table and not at more or less the same time.
    3. This is more on the expensive side, but for me is not worth the money in terms of taste. But in terms of good place to sit and just have a simple dish that cannot go wrong, sure, why not?

    Place: Lot 9, Bintaro.
    Menu:
    Nasi Goreng Rawon (42K) 7.0/10
Bubur Manado (35K) 6.5/10 but the sambal roa that comes with it is a solid 9.0/10
Oseng Oseng Iga, without rice (85K)

Menu yang dipesan: Nasi goreng rawon, Bubur Manado, Oseng Oseng Iga

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000
    Makasih Infonya!
