Ippeke Komachi [ Kelapa Gading, Jepang ]

    I love this place

I've been eating here for as long as I can remember. My parents love this place, and so do I. We've been eating here since I was a little baby, so even the chefs recognize us. This restaurant really is the bomb when it comes to sushi. They keep it authentic with their sushi creations, and I love it. They have quite a wide variety of sushi choices, most of them being the traditional nigiri or california roll. Some other ones would be the chef's creative creations, but it still pulls off with a japanese taste in your mouth (not an explosion of mayonnaise and crab sticks). Their ingredients (vegetables, rice, egg, fish and whatsoever) are always fresh, and so is their sashimi. Each and every single raw fish I put in my mouth is always soft and melty and delicious. Basically, it doesn't taste frozen. But, apart from all that, FREE FLOW OCHA. That's the most important thing when it comes to japanese restaurants. You need free flow ocha, and ippeke has that. Thank you. Apart from that, the ambience was real nice to. The interior looked pretty, the servers were all nice, and we were served real quick. The food (apart from the plates on the sushi bar) came out real quick, and that's a good thing. Now, talking about price, I think it's great. Considering the quality of the food served, the price was just right. Not too expensive, not too cheap. But, of course. I only eat there when my parents are paying. One more thing, this restaurant is best when you want to eat sushi. If you're looking for other japanese dishes like ramen, or curry rice, then I wouldn't recommend Ippeke Komachi. This restaurant's specialty is its sushi, and that's what you want you want to have a bite of here.

Menu yang dipesan: Sashimi Salmon 5P, Char Ciu Men, Happy Salmon, Chicken Katsudon, California Roll, Aburi Salmon, Chawan mushi

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

Bebek Tepi Sawah [ Muara Karang, Indonesia ]

    Oh wow.

BEBEK TEPI SAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Just a few days ago, my Dad came home from his business trip, and brought us all to eat here, Bebek Tepi Sawah, Baywalk Outlet, Jakarta, Indonesia. We ordered the most famous classic fried duck. As you can see, it’s basically half a duck, fried, served with rice and spicy green beans on your plate. They also serve you with 3 different types of “sambal” (Indonesian chili paste). The duck is sooooo satisfying. Crispy, tender, fatty, and just marvelous. I’m personally a huge fan of spicy food, so I ate the duck with all 3 sambal mixed with it. The sambal had these 3 levels (?) of spicy - mild, spicy, and hell - but they’re all worth the try. Mixing them all just gives it a burst of flavor; sweet, savory, tangy, and a whole lot of spice in your mouth. The green beans don’t really add much to the dish, but it gives off a “fresh” feel in your mouth after you get that oily taste from the duck. We also order their Sop Asam Iga (sweet and sour beef soup), which I thought wasn’t sour enough to my taste, but still worth the try. I’m a fan of this particular dish, so I’m really picky with the dish’s level of sour, and I didn’t find this one satisfying enough, but the beef was still tender, and the usual burst of spice was still there. For the duck, I give a 9/10, and the soup a 7/10. Price wise, I didn’t like it, because no matter how good the experience was, I would still shake my head to the numbers on my bill. I am a student with limited amount of cash after all. So, for all the other students out there, you might want to come here only when your parents are paying, or when it’s a special occasion worth the waste of money. Overall, it was a 8.5/10 worth of an experience which I would to suggest to anyone out there. This is definite bloggers recommendation.

Menu yang dipesan: Tepi Sawah Crispy or Grilled Duck, Sup Iga Garang Asam, Es Puter Kacang Merah, Es Puter Ketan Hitam

Harga per orang: < Rp. 50.000

Fountain Lounge - Grand Hyatt Jakarta [ Thamrin, Lounge, Bar, & Club ]

    High Tea and Fountain Lounge

High Tea is always a great time when you're having it in Grand Hyatt. Foto yang di unggah di ambil pada hari yang berbeda, makanya ambience warnanya berbeda. 1 dari High Tea chocolate edition, dan yang lainnya dari High Tea Mango edition. Tentunya, kedua "special" tersebut terasa enak. Sebenarnya Fountain Lounge Kan memang terkenal untuk High Teanya, and they're right. Ambience dan interior SpOG oN,kebersihan juga OK, dan Service tentunya sangat bagus. Harga mungkin agak sedikit mahal, tapi kalau kalian mau coba High Tea mereka, sekali" bisa mengunjungi cafe ini.

Madame Lily [ Thamrin, Italia ]

    Dad's favorite

For some reason, my Daddy loves this place. He kept on insisting that Madame Lily had some really good Indonesian dishes in their menu. I personally have only been here twice, and I've only tasted their western dishes. Madame Lily has quite a wide variety of both Indonesian and Western dishes in their menu, which is a good thing, really. But, if it were me, I wouldn't choose to eat Indonesian food in a restaurant in the mall, because it will most definitely tend to be overpriced (tax and what not). So, I went and ordered their Mac and Cheese. This is the very first time for me to taste Mac and Cheese, and frankly speaking it tastes like cream pasta with some extra can cheese, not that it's a bad thing, because I really don't know what Mac and Cheese is supposed to taste like. I also ordered their pan croissant (?) with the cheese and chocolate for dessert, and it just dissapointed me. Their "croissant" just tasted like a bread roll to me, and if the main point of the whole dish (which is the croissant) is a whole lie, then that won't be good, won't it? Apart from that, I also tasted a little bit of their rendang, and I'm thoroughly satisfied with it. That was the most softest rendang I've ever tasted, and that's good. Although, it did tasted rather bland to me, but the texture made up for it. As for the ambience and service, I think it was alright. I like how they furnished the place, it looked all posh and cute, and the fact that I didn't feel disturbed by any noise at all even though we're not eating inside a "store" is a plus point. The servers were all nice, they had smiles on their faces, and I was served well, and my food came out in about 15 minutes, so that's alright. It is of course, relatively longer than other restaurants, but I don't mind. As for the price, it is of course quite overpriced for me (I'm a student with restricted pocket money), so let's just say, come here only when your parents are with you, or if your rich friend is willing to pay for you (this is just what I think, don't let me stop you).

Menu yang dipesan: Mac and Cheese

Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000

Seribu Rasa [ Thamrin, Indonesia ]

They're not kidding with their name

When they say "Seribu rasa", they actually mean 1000 flavors, because I have never in my life seen such a wide selection of food before. I personally dislike it when a restaurant can't make up its mind on what they want to serve me. Like, what's cooking? Chinese, Thai, Indonesian, Malaysian, no? ALL OF THEM! That's exactly what seribu rasa is. I came into that restaurant thinking that I would have high quality Indonesian food, but I was bombarded with other Asian dishes as well, and it kind of made me loose focus on my initial motive. I did, however, enjoyed my dishes. Then again, when it comes to Indonesian food, I wouldn't want to spend more than 50k for a dish, and even 50k is too expensive for me. The only good Indonesian food you will ever find are the ones that are sold on the side of the road (ignore hygiene on this matter), and seribu rasa is awfully pricy. Like, "what the hell" kind of pricy. How can a bowl of curry cost 125k plus tax, I don't get it. It was a great dining experience though, just up to the part where I received the bill.

Menu yang dipesan: Thai Green Curry, yi fu mie, Nasi Bogana, Thai Iced Tea, Pineapple Fried Rice

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

Bakerzin [ Kelapa Gading, Barat ]

I've been here a few times.

I've been to bakerzin quite a few times, and I'm sure that you all know how famous this place is for their cakes. I have nothing to say about their savoury dishes, because they taste standard. The mac and cheese was rather bland, honestly, but the rest was fine. I ordered a raindrop cake, and as you can see, it looks aesthetically pleasing. The taste however, was a rip off, and that would partially be my fault because that was the first time for me to taste raindrop cake. It was bland and expensive, mind you. Their cakes these days have turned for the worse. I ordered their salted caramel cheesecake today. Caramel had no salt in it, cheesecake had the texture of a mousse, and there was no cheese at all. I also ordered their muille fuille once, and I had no problems with it apart from the pastry being moist (which it shouldn't be). Their mojitos, however, are something I will definitely come back to. Just a note for bakerzin, they really need to fix their cakes if they want to keep their name.

Menu yang dipesan: Truffle Mac and Cheese, mango mojito, muille fuille, raindrop cake, salted caramel cheesecake

Harga per orang: Rp. 100.000 - Rp. 200.000

Pancious [ Kelapa Gading, Italia ]

    Ok

Pancious is the basic family go to restaurant, honestly. It's affordable, and the flavor's not all bad. Their dessert pancakes and waffles are definitely great, and so are their savory ones. There's just this one time where I ordered their blue cheese pancake and realized that blue cheese just isn't for me. Their pasta is definitely not the best, but still worth it. I usually go with their gnocchi chicken pesto, or their other creamy based pasta, but just recently I ordered their arabiata cow tongue pasta, and the tomato based sauce was ok. Me, being a fan of cow tongue, didn't mind the meat at all because I think that they did a wonderful job in slicing and grilling the tongue, but my mom hated it saying that the beef smelled bad.

Menu yang dipesan: Chicken & blue cheese, Caramelized Banana, Mushroom

Harga per orang: Rp. 50.000 - Rp. 100.000

Depot Nasi Campur Pojok Tambak Bayan [ Pantai Indah Kapuk, Indonesia ]

    Spot on

Celebrating Indopendence day in my own way. I failed the selections for getting into the flag raising comittee because I was too tall. So, this is how I’m going to cheer myself up. Pojok Tambak Bayan’s Nasi Campur Pecel. This little restaurant started off in Surabaya, then opened another restaurant in Jakarta (Pantai Indah Kapuk). I can taste why. I wouldn’t necessarily give it a 10 out of 10 (I’m not a big fan of Nasi Campur), but that was hella good. Best Nasi Campur I’ve ever tasted. Their Pecel (raw vegetables with spicy peanut sauce) was spot on, and so was their glass noodle. Overall, the dish would be 8/10 (generally). But if you put it into the Nasi Campur category, it’s a 10/10. This is a definite must try for anyone who’s in Jakarta. Definitely bloggers recommendation.

Gahyo [ Kelapa Gading, Korea ]

    Family favorite.

Out of all the korean bbd restaurants, this place is one that my family frequently comes to. It is hella pricy, that's for sure, but the flavor's high end as well. I don't have much to say actually, apart from the food being pretty good. Their japchae would probably one of the best ones I've tasted, and I also love their seafood kimchi jjigae. I have no complaints on the bbq at all. One problem I have would be the lack of variety in the free side dishes, and the very small plates of raw vegetable wraps they serve us. Apart from that, all is well.

Menu yang dipesan: Japchae, korean pork ribs, kimchi jjigae, Bibimbap

Harga per orang: > Rp. 200.000

Bebek Bengil [ Menteng, Indonesia ]

    Nice.

Duck. I love duck. This particular duck was pretty ok. It was real funny to see my duck served on top of 2 slices of fruit, but I just went with it. First of all, the duck wasn't fatty, and it had a texture similar to that of a chicken. The frying, however, was crispy enough. The 3 different sambal was also okay, and I should remind you to use all 3 when you eat. Interior was above okay, because I loved the balinese ambience. It was flawless. Now, if I were to compare this to bebek tepi sawah, bebek tepi sawah has fattier and crispier duck than be ek bengil. Their sambal and long beans are also spicier. In the end, which place you'll like will depend on your tastebuds, but I still prefer bebek tepi sawah over this.
