Why you will love it ❤
1. The first thing you notice is how homey it feels. The ambience feels very laid back to sit and chill to have long conversations which was fitting because I attended an alumni reconnecting gathering hence why the food was served prasmanan style.
2. They partner with small-scale producers across Indonesia for the main ingredients to maintain taste and authenticity. So you are not just eating well-cooked food, but also the ingredients showcase genuine heritage of Indonesian flavours.
3. Friendly and attentive service.
4. Love the sambal terasi. This is what made the whole experience special. Not on the crazy spicy side which I prefer. Elevates the whole experience and does not try to numb your tongue.
5. Tahu Gejrot has a nice balanced taste. Not too spicy. Not too sweet. Just the right flavours bursting in your mouth.
6. The batagor sambal kacang was served in small soupn spoons, which was a treat to enjoy. The peanut sauce (from cashews) complimented the star.
7. Gurame Bumbu Kencur has a nice flavour, with bumbu kuning. Reminds me of an elevated version of mom's cooking.
8. Empal Gepuk was not the best I had, but it does go extremely well with the sambal so yes, match made in sambal heaven.
9. Great that they have a whole private space for group dining, so you do not disturb other guests and the group can mingle together in one whole area.

What could be improved 🙏
1. Sayur Asem needs improvement. It was more on the bland side. Not sweet. Not sour. Not salty. Not my kind of Sayur Asem.
2. The fish in Gurame Bumbu Kencur was a tad too hard - wish they cooked the fish better next time I visit! It's unfortunate because the food tastes good :)
3. Lapis Jadul Selai Nanas Madu looks super appetizing, but in terms of taste honestly did not detect any difference with other lapis.
4. Pricey, compared to the taste I believe this is on the pricey end and not worth the price. However, if you are looking for a high end restaurant and consider that they partner with small-scale producers the experience becomes worth it. You are not just buying a plate of food, but the authenticity of the Indonesian taste, ingredients, well-executed interior design as well as friendly and attentive staff.

Why you will love it ❤
1. They have various traditional dishes with a modern take. Ismaya always pay attention to details when it comes to interesting concepts.
2. Lovely service, fast and attentive.
3. Plenty of seating and the layout is great so you are not squeezed in.
4. I like the Es Rubi Shanghai, it has more of a coconut dominant flavour and the sweetness is not too overpowering.
5. Cireng is great for snacking with friends, but the dipping I wish were more flavourful and a bit too thin but still an enjoyable dish.
6. The Nasi Goreng Gila is literally gila. Great for those who love a challenge, I chose local though (medium spiciness). Also, the Nasi Goreng Gila is generous in portion, better share this and order another menu for additional protein (this is just my excuse to eat more food tbh 😂).
7. Their eggs are nice and runny, but if you prefer your eggs fully cooked just let them know.

What could be improved 🙏
1. Salted Egg Chicken to rice ratio is great, but if they had a stronger salted egg taste this dish would be awesome. I like the crispiness and the rice was a too mushy, I prefer rice that is that rice balance between not too hard but not too soft and mushy. Overall, it is quite good, has the potential to be great with few adjustments.
2. . Nasi Goreng Gila is crazy spicy! I love spicy food, but this is quite something. There is already a warning on the menu, but it would be great if they warned us that their "medium" is more on the "spicy" side. Also wish they used rice that was a bit harder, mine was too soft. Perhaps because it just finished cooking so most likely this is a one time occurence. Overall, enjoyable visit in The People's Cafe with an nice concept and great service.

Why you will love it ❤
1. Great service - attentive and friendly, always great if the waiters/waitresses are able to explain the menu. Shows they trained the staff well.
2. Interesting concept. A modern take on Japanese food and cafe that will satisfy your belly.
3. Salmon skin mayo paired beautifully with the mayo, couldn't stop munching!
4. The dorayaki must be hands on the winner, soft texture, not eggy, a perfect dessert to share with friends after a hefty meal.
5. The parfait are generous in portion, choose matcha ogura if you prefer parfait that is not overwhelmingly sweet.
6. Strawberry peach tea is generous in fruit and size.

What could be improved 🙏
1. Gyoza chicken mozzarella has a great thin outer layer. It was a good dish, but I think could do with a bit more savoury kick to make the dish stand out even more.
2. Popcorn Caramel Parfait is great for those who love their dessert sweet. Which is how a dessert should be, a sweet ending to your meal. However, I think with a bit of salty element this could balance out the overwhelming caramel sweetness. However, you do get the corn flakes inside which balances the flavour but it's under the parfait.

Why you will love it ❤
1. Indonesian comfort food. Not pretentious, just down to earth but highlighting the flavour.
2. Go for the tahu telur, the sauce is sweet and slightly savoury which goes well with the tofu and peyek. YUMMY. Though get this as a shared dish, because as great as it is, it’s a huge dish and difficult to finish alone.
3. Nasi Kuning is great for those of you who do not like to choose when it comes to food (I can relate). You got the lovely empal suwir, perkedel, chicken wings (a bit weird for nasi kuning, but I love it still), kripik belado and srundend. My least favourite one is the belado kentang, but then again I have never been a huge fan of it.
4. Sate buntel kambing is also what dreams are made of, this one is great and you can definitely finish it all but for cholesterol sake, do share it with friends and family!

What could be improved 🙏
Considering that we visited on a saturday night with almost all of the restaurant being full, I think they did a pretty good job. Nothing much to say here, but hopefully they can get the order right. Because the sate buntel arrived a bit late compared to other dishes. With that being said, still very great and fast service.

Why you will love it ❤
1. Let me start with the Spicy Chibab, it has that nice spicy and barbeque taste without numbing your tongue. Just enough pain for spiciness (mild/spicy level), but not to the extent you will cry, so perfect level of spiciness. Even if you do not like spicy food, I think you will enjoy this. You get fries, rice and sweet potato for the protein. Libra people? Yes, this is for you guys who cannot make a choice.
2. Chir Chiqueen is fantastic! Super generous cheese. Did not even expect the cheese to be that much. If cheese makes you go mad, let’s go crazy and order this delicious madness.
3. If you prefer to have roasted chicken, Spicy BBQ Roasted Chicken is awesome. Also, this is quite spicy and it is more generous in terms of herbs I believe. Personally, I like my chicken fried but this is good for a different flavour profile.
4. Spicy Tenders have bits of almond that adds a unique profile flavour. Eat it with the rice cake and sweet potato cubes covered in caramelized Chir Chir’s special sauce goodness.
5. I also love the Corn Tea (refill, yeay!) and it has quite a strong Corn Tea flavour which I really appreciate.
6. Plenty of seating and the lighting is nice and bright.

What could be improved 🙏
Parking is not too easy, located in a really crowded area in Senopati. However, there is valet and you can always use online transportation to get here as it is super strategic.
