Tsurukamedou [ Green Ville, Jepang ]

    Solid Ramen house near home

Curly noodle (you can choose your preferences), two slices of chasiu, half tamago, mushroom, nori and negi served with tonkotsu broth.

The moment it arrived, I knew it's gonna a rich deep fatty kind of broth. Look at that layer of oil and fat. So tempting. And I was right. It's rich, savory, fatty, porky and bold. Love the strong taste of the pork broth.

The chasiu was surprisingly amazing. Like they respect the pork itself and used as less seasoning as possible. Then the texture was also great. The meat just disintegrated in my mouth. I almost need no teeth to chew it.

Then the noodle. They have 2 kind of noodles to choose from. Straight and curly. I definitely went to the curly one. It's springy and tasted like decent noodle. Not that instant noodle kind of thing. Some places use that kind of noodle and I ain't appreciate that.

The tamago, mushroom, nori and negi were okey. But I think there is no point for me to describe it. As long as they ain't taste like crap, it'll taste similar everywhere. More or less. I mean, they put no twist to it.

The broth, the noodle and the pork. That's all I need. Powerful broth with huge impact of melty chasiu and the springy noodle. Dang good.

Here's a thing. By adding 5K, you can get a tiny plate of fried lard. Trust me, you need none of that. It's painful for me to say this. Like I can't believe it, it's coming from my mouth. Me? Rejecting the fried lard? But the truth must be spoken. The broth was porky enough. And the lard? It tasted not that strong. When I bit it, I knew that it's lard. But it lacked that umami burst or whatsoever.

Not the best but definitely not the worst. It's pretty mediocre.

Thai Style Charbroiled Pork Collar. First, the portion was quite generous. Like 15 slices of pork collar. Then the taste was also quite good. Definitely above average. Fatty, sweet, porky and nicely charred. The burnt charred smell was the highlight for me. It's tender but not melt in my mouth kind of tender. If you don't like thai food like me (yes, I ain't a big fan of thai food), then no need to worry. The only thai style of that dish was the dipping sauce. It tasted like watery sweet thai dipping sauce.

Price wise, it's worth to try. But it's not the best. I've tried a much better one. Fattier, almost melt in mouth, more lean and thicker. Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing. Some people like it thin, like in here, but I personally prefer the thicker one, it's more substantial.

Wow, never thought someone can really ruin indomie.

Fried indomie, chili, chicken meat and veggies. I'll make this fast. It didn't taste good at all. Did they forget to use all the MSG seasonings? Cause it lacked that MSG taste. I almost tasted nothing. The chili might look spicy but it's not. It's just a lil hot but that's it, no fragrant or whatsoever. I kinda confused what it's supposed to taste, bland or spicy. It tasted just right in middle. Then the worst part on that plate was the chicken. Yes, 15K and I got chicken, that's cool. But small cut boney chicken? That's not cool. When I eat indomie, I wanna shovel over and over again, like non stop. But now, I gotta spit the small bone. What a task. Yeah, I'm such crazy lazy asian. I gotta say they did a terrible job on that indomie twist.

However, it's an affordable hangout spot. So yeah, don't expect too much. Spacious, friendly service and affordable snacks. That's an offer. Btw, I did try their taichan and I like it. Check my previous post. Sorry but this indomie let you down.

All the menu is dang good

The best gravy noodle aka mie tektek I've ever tried. It's salty, savory, sweet and spicy. To make it even better, they used pork on it. Like it gave another porky flavor and brought it to a level higher. The noodles were perfectly cooked. Not too soft and not too tough. Is that okey to use the word 'al dente' for mie tektek? That hit me on the right spot. My mouth was just rejoicing. The pork and the noodles were perfectly balanced. Actually the portion was quite big, however I just couldn't get enough. I just wanna shovel more and more.

Btw, it's off the menu. You won't find it in the menu book. I think only regular cust know this one. Do yourself a favor, try this one. Just ask for mie tek tek and they know what you mean. And one more thing, never order their fried rice. It's not like the fried rice tastes bad. There's just no oomph to it and tastes very mediocre. In other word, boring.

I super recommend this place. It's a solid restaurant. Consistency is very important and every time I come, it always tastes the same.

I prefer my way to eat this goodness

10 second sirloin. Thinly sliced sirloin, grilled for 10 second then dipped into the premium egg yolk.

Look at the sirloin. So much marble, it almost 1 : 1. 10 secs? No need to grill it that long. Maybe 4 secs and you're good.
Well, it tasted great. By dipping the almost melt in your mouth sirloin into the egg yolk, it gave nice salty and creamy taste to the meat. However, it tasted a bit too salty. I prefer to eat it my way. Mixed it with the egg yolk first, the grilled it. I lost most of the yolk when I grilled it, but it tasted less salty.

Love the place, but not this menu

Pokenroulade. Crunchy rolled pork belly stuffed with green spinach and mushroom, complemented with sauce. First of all, it tasted good. But what a misleading name and description, I didn't see anything rolled.

Crispy skin, savory and fatty belly, creamy mushroom and earthy spinach. Great combination. And it's not greasy at all. What a grace. I could easily devour it all. The salad was mediocre, nothing special about it. I believe they used homemade chips or at least it tasted like one. It's super crispy and tasted natural, no seasonings added. And the dipping sauce was creamy and thick. Not that cheap watery kind of sauce. However, I craved for a real pork roulade, and I couldn't satisfy my craving with this imitation kind of dish.

    A great simple dish

Paper-baked fish, potatoes, zucchini, tomato concasse and mushroom duxelles.

First let's talk about the main ingredient, the barramundi. The main reason I like barramundi is the texture. It's more meaty than normal fish. It absorbs more flavor. The barramundi here was not too dry and still quite juicy. It matched well with the other ingredients. The zucchini here was tasty. My first time eating zucchini wasn't that good. It tasted slimy. But here, completely fine. It's soft and crunchy at the same time. The taste, I can't describe it. Maybe like cucumber but not that potent. The potatoes was quite disappointing, it's kinda bland. Then the tomato concasse was refreshing and really matched the fish. It's peeled chopped tomatoes. And last one is the mushroom. It really brought that creamy, mushroomy and earth flavor.

To sum it up, it's baked barramundi on top of chopped tomatoes and minced mushroom. But it's so harmonious and delish.

    great for share

Huge pile of sliced beef on top of fresh veggies and served with raw eggs. Presentation was on point, who can resist of the temptation of that pile of happiness. The portion was super generous. Tender and sweet beef, earthy and crunchy veggies. Then the chef put some oil and cooked them together. Perfect point between crisp and tender. It tasted savory but not super strong savory bomb flavor.

Then you gotta dip the beef with the raw egg. It brought the beef into another level, it's incredible. It tasted like smooth velvety rich creamy savory flavor. A little savory, sweet really rich and earthy. I only had 1 problem, not particularly a bad thing. The clear liquid of the raw egg. It's just not my thing. It had that slimy texture that I hate. I know some people like it. The next time I eat this bad ass mountain of beef, I'll ask them to remove the egg white part first.

Kedai Kopi Kulo [ Cengkareng, Minuman ]

    affordable snacks and tasted good

I just knew that kedai kopi kulo in greenlake serves snacks too. Then I tried some sample out of it. The risoles and the spaggetti. Relax, they won't serve them in a same plate, it's just a sample for me. To be fair, I ain't gonna put my standard as usual. It's coffee shop, so I'm gonna put a lower standard. We're not demanding something mind blowing in coffee shop right, just something edible to bite and accompany your coffee.

Risoles (19K). It's beyond average. Bit oily but still acceptable. Like your typical of risoles, it got egg, ham and mayonnaise sauce. The skin wasn't too thick and generous amount of fillings.

Spicy tuna spaggetti (27K). This one was far better than my expectation. The pasta wasn't hard, the tuna wasn't fishy and little bit spicy. To be honest, this one was quite acceptable to be served on restaurant. Like it's 27K. Come one, it's worth every single penny you spend on. And you must admit that lot of places serve bad bad quality of spaggetti and still charge you damn pricey.

Holy Smokes [ Senopati, Barat ]

It's a halloween menu but basically it's a normal dishes combine

Full rack of beef ribs, mac n cheese, corn, sausages and onion straw. Obviously the beef ribs are supposed to be the ribs, the sausages are the intestines, the onion straw are the clavicle. But the corn and mac n cheese? I don't get it. Lmao. Can anyone take a guess?

The ribs were tender. Not fall off the bone kind of tender, but it required less effort to chew. The taste was good. Smokey, savory, sweet and rich. They do have 2 special sauce, original and spicy. Don't bother. The ribs were so tasty, I didn't need one. Matter of fact, I did try both of them, but the strong taste of the ribs itself overwhelmed the dip sauce. So I stopped using them.

The onion straw were great. Nothing can go wrong with fried onion. So fragrant, sweet and had that deep mellow taste. Love it. The sausages were good. But yeah, it tasted like any sausages for me. Nothing stood out. The corn and the mac n cheese couldn't impressed me. But I came for the meat. I'm gonna judge them based on that one.
